Risk Management Internship with Exposure to Legal & Compliance (11 month Internship)

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is offering an exceptional internship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Risk Management team. This hands-on role reports to the Head of Risk Management and offers a unique cross-functional experience supporting leaders across Risk, Legal, and Compliance. You’ll gain exposure to critical business areas and real-world application of risk governance while building your network within one of the world’s leading re/insurance companies.

What you'll do?

Risk Management (Core Focus):

• Support the monitoring and reporting of key risk indicators
• Assist in risk assessments and scenario analysis
• Contribute to the development and improvement of risk control frameworks
• Help ensure compliance with internal risk governance processes
• Support documentation and reporting for internal committees and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work alongside leaders in Legal and Compliance to understand how risk, regulation, and ethics intersect in a complex corporate environment
• Assist with research, reporting, and administrative support on legal or compliance-related projects
• Participate in cross-team meetings and gain holistic exposure to operational and strategic risk management

General Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and prepare briefing notes on regulatory or industry developments
• Assist with presentations, dashboards, and risk reports for senior management
• Support the Head of Risk Management and wider team with ad hoc projects and coordination

Qualifications and Skills

• A graduate with at least 2 years of professional experience in a corporate or regulated environment
• A relevant degree or qualification in Risk Management, Law, Audit, Compliance, or a related field
• Strong analytical and research skills with a keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Proactive, organised, and eager to learn from different business areas
• A genuine interest in understanding how large global businesses manage risk and stay compliant

This role is offered on the basis of an 11-month temporary contract, with an expected start date on 1st of September 2025. The gross monthly salary for this role is 9 000 ZAR full time.
