The Detection Data Analyst on the Product & Threat Research team sits at the intersection of data science, security research, and product management. The analyst’s mission is to ensure that Tenable’s AI provides comprehensive protection and delivers the best possible user experience across client environments, while continuously advancing Tenable’s threat-protection capabilities.
The analyst is responsible for analyzing and annotating data for Tenable’s AI models, researching emerging threats, and translating data insights into actionable product improvements that keep Tenable’s customers one step ahead of adversaries.

Your Role:

  • Analyze and annotate high-quality datasets to support the training of new AI-based detection capabilities

  • Monitor client environments for anomalies, and collaborate with AI researchers to ensure optimal detection performance

  • Validate that detection rules trigger as intended; identify and analyze trends in false positives and true positives

  • Translate raw telemetry and detection insights into clear, actionable product requirements that improve coverage, accuracy, and user experience

  • Perform initial triage and analysis of AI-related security incidents and prepare client-facing reports

  • Analyze emerging security threats in the Generative AI landscape (formal GenAI security background not mandatory)

  • Deliver ad hoc client reports based on specific analytical requests

What You'll Need:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst

  • Proven ability to translate analytical findings into clear business requirements and customer-facing reports

  • Proficiency in Python, at a basic to intermediate level

  • Experience with SQL or log-query languages such as Splunk SPL or Elastic DSL

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English


And Ideally:

  • Background in cybersecurity

  • Experience in threat research, including analyzing adversarial techniques and translating them into detection logic

  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies
