Technology Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Analyst

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technology Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Analyst to join the Information & Cyber Security team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Technology Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Analyst will report directly to the Technology & Security Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager who manages the GRC function on behalf of the Head of Cyber & Protective Security & wider Technology Senior Leadership Team.   

 

Being responsible for ensuring that Yorkshire Water’s Technology policies, standards, and practices are documented and aligned with the best practices you will support our  GRC Specialist to conduct & manage Technology risk assessments, audits, and reviews, as well as providing guidance on Technology governance, risk & compliance issues.   

 

You will also support and advise various teams and projects across Yorkshire Water (YW) on the security aspects of new & updated systems, networks & technologies whilst answering any queries received within the GRC ticketing system. 

  

Where you fit in: 

 

As our Technology Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Analyst you will 

 

  • Champion opportunities that risk, regulation and compliance can provide to an organisation at senior analyst & management level. 
  • Monitor the Technology compliance status and performance of the organisation, and ensure that the Technology issues and incidents are properly documented and resolved. 
  • Conduct Technology risk assessments, audits, and reviews to identify and evaluate the Technology risks and controls, and provide recommendations for improvement 
  • Oversee risk management processes alongside appropriate business activities such as system development, architecture or procurement 
  • Provide technical & GRC analyst support in Technology related incidents and assist GRC Manager in the notification of relevant authorities, ensuring that company and legal requirements are complied with whilst maintaining data privacy legislation. 
  • Support the GRC Manager & GRC Specialist when managing external stakeholders and other water companies to maintain strong working relationships. 

  

What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

  • A Strong knowledge and understanding of the IT governance, risk and compliance frameworks, standards, and methodologies, such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR. 
  • Being able to demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and influence people.    
  • Have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to identify and evaluate IT risks and controls, and provide practical and effective recommendations.
  • Solid interpersonal skills that enable you to communicate and present complex IT risk and compliance issues and concepts to various audiences with differing levels of understanding.
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Enthusiasm for initiative, creativity, and innovation, and the ability to keep up with the changing IT environment and technologies. 

 

You will also benefit from having: 

 

  • Knowledge of  information security incident management investigations 
  • Experience working with legal, risk, audit and compliance staff and a good knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 
  • Practical experience of carrying out Technology compliance reviews and audits   
  • Proficient in negotiating and third-party management
