The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security & IT Engineering, and as part of the Canopy Growth Cyber Security Team, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer to join our dynamic Cybersecurity team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the security of our network infrastructure. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure that our systems are protected against unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and other potential threats. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, including hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security technologies. You will be expected to stay current with the latest security trends and technologies to maintain a robust defense strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage network security solutions to protect the organization's infrastructure
Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats
Perform regular security assessments, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure integration of new technologies and systems
Respond to security incidents and provide detailed analysis and recommendations
Maintain and update security policies, procedures, and documentation
Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
3+ years of experience in network security or a similar role
Proficiency with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies
Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching
Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNA Security, or CEH
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
