Head of Operational Resilience – Testing & Scenario Planning

London / Hybrid

How you’ll help us make health happen:

You will champion the operational resilience agenda, supporting the delivery of the Group Operational Resilience Framework. Specifically, you will support exercising, testing and crisis management.  As the subject matter expert, you will engage with senior leadership, shaping capabilities for Bupa at Group level.

The role reports to the Group Director of Operational Resilience.

Key duties:

  • Improve testing capability across the group

  • Enhance and develop the Operational Resilience testing artefacts, guidance and library across operational risk domains, including Technology and Cyber 

  • Partner with Operational Risk domain leaders across Bupa - horizon scanning risk, incidents, near misses and lessons learnt to improve the operational resilience posture and build Bupa’s preventative capability

  • Working with other SMEs across the organisation CISO, CTO, CIO, TPRM

  • Play an active and supportive role in Bupa’s Operational Resilience community to further strategic goals

  • Partner with the Head of Operational Resilience on senior crisis management exercises, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to monitor best practice and evolving landscape

  • Build great working relationships with senior stakeholders and a variety of teams

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Qualified Operational Resilience expert (CISSP, CISM, CRISC)

  • Excellent knowledge of NIST / COBIT

  • Depth of experience in working in large corporate / complex business, preferably in Operational Resilience

  • A problem-solving mindset, experienced not only at risk identification but working with the market units to influence and find solutions that improve risk management

  • Strong understanding of Global Operational Resilience regulatory requirements, with the ability to translate complex, technical reg developments in a way that resonates and engages business stakeholders.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience at running cross functional, cross business projects.

  • Strong data-driven approach analytical and problem-solving skills gained within a financial, regulatory or risk environment.

  • Experience and expertise across the full range of operational resilience risk management, with a focus on assessing the operational resilience roadmap, important business services, impact tolerances and service mapping, oversight of scenario testing, KRIs and risk appetite.

  • Strong Communication skills with high attention to detail

  • Strong sense of ownership and delivery, aligned with Bupa’s values.

  • Ability to act with good judgement and discretion
