Responsibilities

Peraton has a great opportunity for a Software Product Owner in Chantilly, VA supporting our Intelligence Community (IC) customer. At the heart of national security, we've been embedded into this cutting-edge program for nearly a decade. You will be working in a rewarding, mission focused environment, cutting edge software design, development, and deployment, contributing to the protection and defense of national space assets. Your efforts will fundamentally change what Space Domain Awareness and Mission Protection means for our Nation.

 

Skyfire is a Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system. Its purpose is to establish a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), find RSOs of interest, and provide data to ground operators. Located in Chantilly, VA, the Skyfire team uses: sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to deliver this world-class SDA I&W system.

 

What you'll do:

  • Product Owner supporting internal and USG users in at least one of the following enterprise technology areas:
    • Infrastructure automation (Ansible, CloudFormation, Kubernetes)
    • Cloud management and deployment DevSecOps pipelines
  • Ensures requirements comply with Agency requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
  • Translates high level CI/CD strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development
  • Coordinates with other software development elements to define and coordinate development efforts
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
  • Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements
  • Provide subject matter expertise to small, experienced infrastructure automation team
  • Develop documentation and processes for day-to-day operational support
  • Collaborate with product owners and engineers to ensure cloud computing best practices are followed and applied. Initiate client troubleshooting sessions and recommend technical solutions for how to resolve
  • Communicate and enable cloud infrastructure service consumption to customers

 

Specific, but not all inclusive, duties include:

  • Lead scrum teams as the Product Owner
  • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements
  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
  • Define product vision, road-map and growth opportunities
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Travel up to 10%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 7+ years of experience; OR bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience; OR master's degree and 3+ years of experience. Four (4) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- Contract requires TS/SCI with poly   The candidate must maintain the clearance. 
  • Extensive experience using Kubernetes, Rancher and Docker
  • Broad understanding of and experience with Containerization, Application Development, and DevOps is required
  • Willingness to work as part of a US-distributed team
  • Real-World experience architecting an AWS Cloud migration or new implementation to AWS Cloud (i.e., not just ‘consuming’ Cloud services but developing the implementation from scratch)
  • Hands-on experience using Terraform, Ansible, or other IaC and automation toolsets to build, change, and version application infrastructure
  • CI/CD Orchestration experience (Jenkins or GitLab preferred)
  • Working knowledge of cloud services in PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS as well as trends in the cloud space
  • Familiarity with Agile SAFe 5.0 methodology

Desired qualifications:

  • Desire a degree in computer science or software engineering
  • Certified in at least one Agile SAFe 5.0 certifications
  • An Information Assurance (IA) certification in accordance with DoD 8570-01.M Cyber Workforce Management guidelines for IA Technical (IAT) or IA Manager (IAM) levels

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
