Systems Engineer

Apogee is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the 557th Weather Wing (557WW). This position provides Data Center and Cloud Computing Engineering support to the Weather Data Analysis Increment (Inc) 5 Cloud Migration-Cross Domain Solution program directly supporting the planning, procurement, testing, implementation, operations, and sustainment of Information Technology (IT) components and systems to support the data ingest, and dissemination of products to the AF Weather Enterprise operating at multiple classification levels.

This is a full-time opportunity located at Offutt, AFB, NE. The position could allow for a hybrid work schedule at customer discretion.

What you'll be doing:

• Perform system analysis and review system specifications or equivalent
• Provide technical reviews of design and development specifications of software applications/systems and other engineering artifacts and develop or maintain those artifacts as required in the systems engineering process
• Support the certification, maintenance, and testing of software applications and the integration of complex software systems and provide comments, recommendations, status, etc
• Support the delivery of software, installation, configuration and testing, and problem resolution and maintenance, including all procedures/timelines to achieve approval to test and promote new or updated software to production
• Advise the Government to ensure compliance with applicable standards, participate in the development of new standards, and help improve existing standards
• Assess technical and architectural changes for impact on software, other command-level systems, and the enterprise
• Assess items such as processes, products, contractor-developed solutions, and baseline changes, and provide comments/recommendations as necessary
• Support development of program documents (support plans, strategies, assessments, requirements documents)
• Use approved processes (e.g., Systems Engineering Plan (SEP)) and participate in and provide support (e.g., prepare briefing or written material) for program management and technical reviews
• Support the Program Chief Engineer and engineering authorities as requested through the program office
• Provide support to the Test Lead, working with the PM and Chief Engineer
• Integrate user community requirements, desired capabilities, and characteristics to support injection into the requirements/capabilities generation, planning, and programming processes and documents
• Review associated documentation and software for compliance with configuration management procedures, testing policies, and design as stated in current directives
• Provide analyses of interface requirements for applications based on recommendations from modernization efforts
• Assist in the security evaluation of the CDS throughout the program life cycle
• Support the development, analysis, and implementation of an Agile DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery model of software development, integration, and deployment; Cloud technologies; and microservice architectures
• Assist in the authorization of new enterprise Cross Domain Solutions within the AFW Virtual Private Cloud
• Assist in the data flow and operations transitions from on-premise to the AWS cloud environment
• Assist the government in overseeing the installation and testing of the CDS components, including coordination with HBAW contractor teams and representatives from the Delegated Approving Official(s) office(s)
• Assist the program by identifying the CDS users/applications, transitioning those users/applications, and assisting in the training of how to utilize the new CDS components
• Track and analyze CDS errors/problems for mitigation completion
• Assist the government in reviewing metrics and then providing comments

Minimum Requirements Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility Certifications: Security+ Education: High School Diploma Years of Experience: 20 years of relevant technical experience 8 of which must be in DoD to include:

• Software delivery including installation, configuration, testing, and problem resolution
• AWS experience includes expertise in AWS Diodes and pipelines.
• Experience in continuous integration / continuous development (CICD)
• Experience providing cross-domain solutions 
• Experience with Cloud Enabled and Cloud native solutions and DevSecOps
• Experience with containers, container orchestration, auto-scaling, advanced deployment models, CI/CD with GitOps, and pipeline customization
• Experience applying Agile Methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe

Preferred Requirements Certifications: CISSP  Education and Experience:

• Advanced Degree (MA/MS) in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting the DoD OR BA/BS degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting the DoD
