Tyto Athene delivers secure, mission-critical solutions that empower agencies to modernize networks, enhance cybersecurity, and achieve information dominance.Tyto Athene is searching for an AV Engineer - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman AV Engineer configures, operates, and maintains audiovisual (AV) systems to support command, control, and collaboration requirements across USSOUTHCOM. This role involves hands-on work with video teleconferencing (VTC), control systems, audio systems, and collaboration platforms. The Journeyman-level engineer provides technical support for AV infrastructure and ensures all systems meet mission-critical performance and security standards.
Responsibilities:
- Installs and integrates AV equipment, including video conferencing, production support, and collaboration technologies, to facilitate mission-critical operations
- Performs diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance to optimize system performance, reliability, and security. Supports the implementation of security measures to protect AV systems from cyber threats while maintaining accessibility and interoperability
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance and firmware updates
- Respond to user support requests and ensure proper system functionality for meetings and classified briefings
- Document system configurations and changes; assist in drafting diagrams and build books
- Work closely with network, project and facilities teams to integrate AV systems within DoD compliance frameworks
- Support Tier II/III escalations for AV issues in secure and non-secure environments
Required:
- Associate’s degree in electronics, AV technology, or related field.
- 4-9 years of hands-on experience with AV/VTC systems in enterprise or military environments.
- Familiarity with AV system components including codecs, switchers, microphones, and DSPs
- Understanding of IP-based AV transmission, basic networking, and signal flow
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Experience supporting AV/VTC in SCIF or SIPR environments
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
- ITIL Foundation for AV service management
- Familiarity with DISA-approved AV and collaboration tools
- Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
- AV manufacturer certifications
