Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Systems Administrator (Windows) to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

 

The Junior System Administrator supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise systems in a secure DoD environment. Working under the guidance of senior administrators, this role provides hands-on assistance with patching, system monitoring, and account management for both Windows and Linux platforms.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system health and performance, identifying and escalating potential issues for resolution
  • Apply updates, patches, and software upgrades to Windows systems, following established protocols and guidelines
  • Provides support for basic technical issues related to Windows systems, assisting end-users with common problems
  • Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, adhering to organizational policies and security standards
  • Support backup operations, verifying successful backups and reporting any failures to senior team members
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps, supporting team knowledge sharing and development
  • Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of virtualized environments, gaining familiarity with tools like VMware or Hyper-V
  • Help stage and deploy security patches and updates as directed
  • Assist in imaging and deploying Windows 10/11 workstations
  • Provide first-level support for routine system issues and service requests
  • Learn and support basic MECM tasks (e.g., pushing software updates, checking device status)
  • Assist with VMware environment monitoring and basic virtual machine tasks
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing IT projects as assigned

Required:

  • Highschool Diploma or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 0–3 years of experience in Windows system administration
  • Basic understanding of: Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and general networking concepts, User account management, system patching, and file permission configuration
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as needed
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and technical documentation

Desired:

  • Exposure to Active Directory Users and Computers and Group Policy Management Console
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Interest in PowerShell scripting and basic automation
  • Other role-appropriate CE certifications
  • Awareness of DISA STIGs, patch compliance, and DoD cyber hygiene

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI clearance required

Certification:

  • DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
  • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • Microsoft AZ-104, AZ-900, or MS-900
