As part of the Australia Sector Commercial & Supply Chain Function, we are now looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team. The role is responsible for providing best in class commercial services and support to the Threat Representation Business Unit (BU) within the Australia Sector for both growth opportunities and contract delivery.

 

Our Threat Representation BU consists of QinetiQ businesses located in Australia, Germany, Canada and the UK, with this role to be primarily supporting the QinetiQ Air Affairs (QAA) business based in Nowra NSW but with flexibility to support the other QinetiQ entities within the Threat Representation BU or more broadly across the Australia Sector as required.  The role will ideally be based in Nowra or Canberra although locations in surrounding areas will also be considered providing there is a willingness to travel to Nowra on a regular basis.

The Commercial Manager role will work collaboratively across the organisation with BU leaders and other Sector and functional team members to achieve sound business outcomes. The role will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Managing and supporting our contractual arrangements while maximising financial/operational performance and ensuring compliance
  • The establishment of both new commercial arrangements (pre-contract award) and the management of existing commercial arrangements (post-contract award)
  • Providing support in the development and evolution of our whole of Sector Commercial governance framework.    

To be successful in the role you will need to bring with you:

  • A Bachelor Degree in a commercial field, such as business, accounting, law or a related field
  • Experience working in a commercial contracting environment, ideally with experience in both the pre- and post-contract award stages and working within the Defence and/or commercial aviation sectors
  • A successful track record in analysing, developing and negotiating contracts, applying a pragmatic approach, with ability to balance winning new business and achieving sound commercial outcomes for the business
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across all levels, both with internal and external stakeholders, including strong written skills for the drafting of bids, proposals, reports and contract clauses.

 

Candidates MUST hold, or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Baseline).
