Pay Scale: $26.43-$28.83/hr.
Summary
The IS Cyber Security Analyst plays a key role in protecting the organization’s data, systems, and users from cyber threats. This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security alerts; managing endpoint protection; assisting with compliance and audit readiness; and contributing to the improvement of the organization’s overall security posture. The analyst is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, escalate issues appropriately, and collaborate with IS and operational staff to ensure compliance with HIPAA, NIST, and other applicable security frameworks. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts, a proactive approach to risk mitigation, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor systems, tools, and logs for security alerts, suspicious activity, and known vulnerabilities
- Assist in responding to and documenting security incidents, including malware events, phishing attempts, and unauthorized access alerts
- Help maintain endpoint protection systems, firewalls, and patch management protocols
- Support user education and training efforts related to security best practices and HIPAA compliance
- Assist with system audits, vulnerability scans, and security risk assessments
- Maintain documentation of security policies, response plans, and configuration procedures
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements:
- Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts (threat detection, access control, encryption)
- Ability to interpret system alerts, logs, and basic reports
- Comfort working in ticketing or workflow systems for issue tracking
- Strong communication skills for user interactions and documentation
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Internships, coursework, or certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+) strongly encouraged
- 1 year of relevant technical or IT experience preferred, but not required
