University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) has partnered with Education Centre of Australia (ECA) to open a campus in Adelaide, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs to international students, initially with programs from the UniSC Schools of Science, Technology and Engineering (STE), Business and Creative Industries, Education and Tertiary Access. Future program offerings are under consideration in other discipline areas.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual as a full-time permanent Academic Teaching Scholar (Lecturer Level B) to teach ICT courses (subjects) in one or more of the following degree programs:
- Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology
- Master of Information and Communications Technology
- Master of Cyber Security and Forensics
You will be an ECA appointee assigned to the UniSC Adelaide campus, following confirmation by UniSC. You will work closely with the Academic Lead - ICT Programs to ensure that all ICT courses are delivered and assessed to the requirements of the University and any external agencies/ professional bodies.
The UniSC Adelaide campus is located at 182 Victoria Square Adelaide. All teaching staff are accountable to the UniSC Adelaide Academic Director and Principal.
Areas of Subject Expertise may include one or more of the following:
- Management Informatics
- Managing Data
- Programming
- Cybersecurity
- Digital investigation and Cybersecurity
- Project Management
- Cryptography, Blockchain and Security
- Cyber Laws and Rules of Evidence
- Device and Network Security
- Machine Learning
- Digital Forensics
- Network Forensics
Key responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality interactive teaching to students in accordance with UniSC curricula.
- Manage the UniSC LMS for delivery of specific courses (subjects/ units).
- Create and maintain an innovative learning environment for students to meet learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks.
- Identify students who are ‘at risk’ of failing a unit and assist them via the appropriate referral to the Academic Lead- IT Programs and the Learning Support Coordinator.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Provide ongoing student support both face to face and online through email and the UniSC LMS.
- Assure the quality of the assessment and examinations processes as directed by the Academic Lead- ICT Programs.
- Support the Academic Lead- ICT Programs when required through administrative requirements and completion of reports, including assessment of applications for advanced standing/ credit for previous studies.
- Assist in accreditation efforts for programs seeking professional recognition.
- Research and integrate emerging technologies into curriculum design and instructional materials.
- Contribute to faculty mentorship by supporting new casual lecturers in adjusting to course requirements.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration between Business and IT departments for holistic learning experiences.
- Maintaining research currency by staying updated on academic and industry developments.
- Adhere to UniSC policies and procedures as instructed by the relevant Academic Lead.
- Ensure UniSC courses are offered in compliance with all legislative and quality requirements, particularly those prescribed by the ESOS Act.
As the successful candidate, you will ideally have:
- Master’s degree as a minimum in a relevant discipline for teaching in a Bachelor degree program
- Doctorate, or equivalent, for teaching in a Master’s degree program
- Substantial and current knowledge of ICT discipline/field of study
- Demonstrated excellent higher education teaching and assessment experience
- Capacity to work collaboratively as a member of high performing academic teams
- Evidence of a scholarly approach to teaching practice, and evaluation.
- Knowledge and use of innovative teaching strategies, models or resources to support learning outcomes, including technology enhanced learning and teaching.
- Experience with teaching international students
- Ability to work with students and staff from varied cultural backgrounds.
- Relevant professional and/or industry experience is desirable.
- Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching is desirable.
- Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP certificate is desirable.
