About the role

 

A new, permanent opportunity for a Senior Security Engineer is now available at Coles.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this role will look to provide technology services to support, develop and maintain the Identity and Access Management components of the IT infrastructure in accordance with agreed service levels,

  • Contribute toward the development of the Identity and Access Management strategy and architecture,
  • Support, develop and maintain the portfolio in accordance with agreed service levels,
  • Maintain strategic partner relationships with key vendors and customer stakeholders



Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the below:

 

Technical

 

  • Maintain industry level technical knowledge and expertise 
  • Establish and maintain relevant technical standards and processes
  • Provide a strong focus on successful technology change and delivery
  • Provide quality delivery and operations to technology portfolio
  • Ensure performance monitoring and optimisation, and continuous delivery improvement of relevant technologies
  • Provide technical leadership for all aspects of delivery and operations
  • Ensure effective transition of projects into support
  • Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders

 

 

Role Delivery

 

  • Assist in the determination of, and ensure the implementation of selected Identity and Access Management products and tools
  • To ensure SLA KPI’s are understood and met
  • Establish practical quality and process measures for key work practices in the team
  • Develop and maintain strong networks and relationships with industry contacts and assess leading practice and successful implementation approaches
  • Provide vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the monitoring and maintenance of outsource agreements and project delivery to agreed service levels and timeframes
  • Assist in the establishment of team specific strategy and solutions that are aligned to the overall IT strategy

 

 

Business

 

  • Assist in the selection of and deployment of new technologies which provide business benefit to the organisation
  • Identify opportunities for IT contribution to business improvement
  • Maintain an awareness of tactics, environment and trends in the retail business and within Coles
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems functionality to address business issues
  • Proactive approach to BAU tasks and continuous improvement

 

 

About you & your skills

 

  • Experience with Azure Active Directory, and associated Azure identity and access management functions
  • Experience with identity management software NetIQ Identity management, NetIQ Access management, CyberArk privileged access management product suites
  • Good understanding of automation and development processes
  • Advanced understanding of all aspects of the broader operational environment (ie. processes, procedures, associated toolsets, operating systems, etc.)
  • Proven capabilities in vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the monitoring and maintenance of outsource agreements and project delivery to agreed service levels and timeframes

 

Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications

 

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, AZ-104, AZ-400).
  • Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC-1/2) highly regarded.
  • Experience in regulated industries (retail, logistics, hospitality, or healthcare).
  • Familiarity with modern endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, Azure Arc).
  • Exposure to DevOps tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, and JFrog Artifactory.
  • Practical experience with automation technologies (Terraform, Ansible, System Center Orchestrator).
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT
  • In depth expertise in applicable IT processes and technologies
