Cybersecurity Technical Writer

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Technical Writer to join our talented, dynamic team.     

As a Cybersecurity Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in supporting the mission of the Treasury by transforming complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation (e.g., SOPs, playbooks), enabling SOC analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to understand and apply processes efficiently, reducing errors and misinterpretations.

This position will be required to work onsite in the DC Metro area, with site visits to Martinsburg, WV and Memphis, TN.

Duties

As our team's technical writer, you will provide an integral role documenting and updating cybersecurity materials to bridge communication between technical teams, management, and external stakeholders (e.g., government agencies), fostering collaboration and ensuring all parties share a unified understanding of security operations. Reporting directly to the leadership team the technical writer will directly contribute to driving operational excellence, reducing risk and enhancing the organizations' ability to standardize communications and processes critical to overall mission success.  

In this role, a typical day will include:  

• Develop well-crafted reports, dashboards, and executive summaries, that deliver actionable insights to leadership.  

• Create standardized guides, training materials, and incident reports.  

• Support comprehensive knowledge bases and repositories, preserving institutional knowledge, facilitating onboarding of new staff, and enabling scalability as the SOC grows or transitions, minimizing knowledge gaps.  

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.  

• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

• Maintain version control and organization of all documents within approved repository.

Requirements

• 2 Years of experience as a technical writer in Cybersecurity field  
• Associate’s degree in related field (2 additional years’ experience in place of degree)  
• Secret Clearance required 
• Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail  
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures  
• Excellent written skills in English  
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include SharePoint and Teams
