Early Talent Data&AI Security Engineer

We are looking for a young talent to join our Digital & Tech Cyber Security Unit at dsm-firmenich as trainee Data&AI Security Engineer
This traineeship is tailored for individuals at the beginning of their professional journey —recent graduates or master’s students— who are passionate about the convergence of AI, data science, and cybersecurity.

You will contribute to enhancing our cybersecurity posture by leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering capabilities, while helping to secure our AI-driven platforms and data ecosystems as you grow into a future Data & AI Security Engineer.

Your key responsibilities

•    Experiment with AI-powered security tools to improve processes such as data classification, vulnerability triage continuous threat exposure management
•    Collaborate with senior engineers to test and secure AI systems, focusing on model hardening and early identification of security risks
•    Support the creation of AI threat models and conduct security risk assessments for AI applications
•    Analyze data sharing practices within Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and traditional File Shares to identify oversharing risks and propose mitigation strategies
•    Explore new tools and automation solutions to support data recertification, ownership accountability, and access reviews
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data ownership models and define re-certification workflows for sensitive or widely shared content
•    Monitor industry trends and contribute to internal documentation, guidelines, and security controls
•    Participate in cross-functional discussions to ensure AI implementations are secure-by-design

You bring

Technical Skills

•    Solid foundation in computer science, cybersecurity, AI/ML, data science, or mathematics.
•    Experience or academic exposure to Python, Java, or C++.
•    Understanding of core AI/ML concepts
•    Knowledge or curiosity about secure data handling, data governance, and protecting sensitive data in large-scale environments
•    Interest in malicious techniques in the context of AI security such as: prompt injection, data poisoning or adversarial attacks
•    Interest in offensive AI security techniques such as: prompt injection, data poisoning or adversarial attacks, and their implications for security
•    Strong analytical mindset and willingness to research and experiment with new technologies
•    Excited to explore how data engineering and AI can be used to solve real-world security challenges

Required level of experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics) and currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s program in a related discipline
•    Experience working on projects or coursework involving AI, cybersecurity, or secure software development
•    Motivated to learn from experienced mentors and take on increasing responsibility in Data and AI security
•    Excellent communication skills and a proactive and collaborative mindset
