Leidos has an immediate need for an experienced Senior Vulnerability Assessor to work as a Team Lead for a customer on a highly-visible and strategic Cybersecurity Task Order. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)  Security Operations Center (SOC) is a US Government program responsible to prevent, identify, contain and eradicate cyber threats to FEMA networks through monitoring, intrusion detection and protective security services to FEMA information systems including local area networks/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), commercial Internet connection, public facing websites, wireless, mobile/cellular, cloud, security devices, servers and workstations.  The FEMA SOC is responsible for the overall security of FEMA Enterprise-wide information systems, and collects, investigates and reports any suspected and confirmed security violations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage enterprise vulnerability compliance and conduct vulnerability assessments of IT systems. The VAT team is responsible for the Information Security Vulnerability Management Program and internal/external Vulnerability Assessment program. The VAT team completes vulnerability assessments, authors security advisories,  identifies opportunities for improvement, and communicates recommended solutions for addressing vulnerabilities.  The right candidate will have the expertise to perform the following:

  • Serve as a Task Lead responsible for ensuring scanning, engagements, and deliverable timelines and intent are met.

  • Oversee Security Assessment and Vulnerability Management for FEMA contractor personnel supporting VAT under this task order

  • Interact and coordinate security monitoring and network defense and protection activities with other organizations and Department entities to support compliance with new and emerging national security and homeland security requirements

  • Respond to DHS/FEMA issued security related alerts, bulletins, and notifications to all components based on identified software and hardware vulnerabilities and monitor for compliance

  • Continuously research emerging vulnerability to the environment to disseminate the information to all stakeholders, immediately assess the known environment for presence of the vulnerability, and work with the DHS/FEMA Security Operations and enterprise networking teams to proactively block exploitation within the DHS environment.

  • Manage, at a senior level, the output and production of the VAT and Penetration testing teams.

  • Guide and mentor the VAT team to ensure all staff stay abreast of emerging technologies and threats.

  • Based on expertise, suggest and implement technical solutions to resolve capability gaps and to enhance performance with automation within the customer environment

  • Track and report on vulnerability mitigation

  • Analyze scan results and coordinate with Cybersecurity Operations staff to assist in identifying mitigation strategies

  • Assist the Risk Management Team in evaluating Windows Configuration Checks using Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) updated quarterly from DISA

  • Present vulnerability scan results to leadership, auditors, systems engineers

Basic Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility

BS degree and 12-15 years of prior relevant experience.

The VAT team is responsible for the Information Security Vulnerability Management Program and internal/external Vulnerability Assessment program. The VAT team completes vulnerability assessments, authors security advisories,  identifies opportunities for improvement, and communicates recommended solutions for addressing vulnerabilities.  The right candidate will have the expertise to perform the following:

  • Extensive experience performing IT security risk and vulnerability assessments

  • Serve as a Task Lead responsible for ensuring scanning, engagements, and deliverable timelines and intent are met.

  • Experience administering and configuring Tenable a must

  • Strong understanding and experience running and growing a Vulnerability Management Program

  • Familiar with other vulnerability tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GIAC Web Applications Penetration Tester (GWAPT)

  • GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN)

  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

  • Certified Web Application Defender (GWEB)

  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
