Senior Model Based Product Security Engineer

The Product Security Functional Chief Engineer’s office (PSEFO) is looking for a Senior Model Based Product Security Engineer (PSE) to join our Digital Engineering team. The position is hybrid and has possible work location options of Oklahoma City, OK, Hazelwood MO, Huntsville AL , Plano TX, Charleston SC, or Herndon VA. The PSEFO Digital Engineering team is responsible for researching, defining, designing, creating, and sustaining tools, processes, and digital capabilities for Product Security Engineers (PSEs) across the Boeing company to use in creating secure and resilient products and services.

In this role you will lead our PSEFO Digital Engineering team in creating technologies using the latest in Model Based Engineering (MBE) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Working with the PSEFO Digital Engineering Lead you will help design, build, test, and deploy models, processes, templates etc. to PSEs and programs throughout the enterprise. The work you do will impact the safety, security, and resilience of dozens of major Boeing programs, products, and services. Of note is the Boeing Model Based Security (MBSec) Solutions Kit (SK) capability. In this role you will work with the MBSec Development Lead and Technical Lead to implement new MBSec SK capabilities, ensure MBSec SK quality, and help programs deploy the MBSec SK.

This role will leverage critical experience in cybersecurity engineering, system security engineering, systems analysis, adversity and risk analysis, system architecture, MBSE or related systems and software engineering, and test & evaluation. The objective of this effort is to deploy solutions and directives that increase the quality and level of the security, resiliency, and assurance of our products, while decreasing the complexity and cost to perform recurring activities. 

You will be joining a team of advanced engineers working across Boeing, that are jointly developing best practices, techniques and tools, and a community to draw upon to deliver best value to our customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of new digital engineering features and capabilities for the Product Security Engineering function

  • Assist program adoption and use product security digital engineering features and capabilities to bring digital engineering to bear for Boeing products

  • Ensure and maintain the quality of the Product Security Engineering models, processes, and templates

  • Develop engineering process guidance, training, and best practices for product security model-based engineering

  • Lead effort to model product security engineering workflows, processes, gate criteria, and work instructions helping to define how product security does its work within Boeing’s digital engineering ecosystem

  • Represent Product Security Digital Engineering within the Product Security function, across the Boeing engineering ecosystem, and within the broader industry

  • Participate in technical design reviews, design practice development, and business process development to help define how PSE should be using digital tools and capabilities

  • Coordinate with digital engineering professionals across Boeing and industry to ensure product security is appropriately leveraging best practices and the latest digital engineering technologies

  • Coordinate and collaborate with digital engineering professionals across Boeing to define and develop digital engineering integration points for tools and processes

  • Assist the MBSec Technical Lead, Development Lead, and Scrum-Master to define and execute “releases” of the MBSec SK and other PSE Digital Engineering capabilities per the PSE Digital Engineering technical roadmap

  • Assist the MBSec Development Lead and Scrum-Master to define new features to add and align within the PSE Digital Engineering technical roadmap

  • Assist with the alignment of the MBSec SK, and other PSE Digital Engineering tools, with defined enterprise PSE Engineering Capabilities and engineering activities

  • Participate in peer reviews and technical reviews related to PSE Digital Engineering features and capabilities

  • Train, educate, and mentor PSEs from across the enterprise in the use of PSE Digital Engineering tools and capabilities

  • Utilize agile methodologies for planning and execution of tasks across the team

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering languages and frameworks such as SysML, UML, UAF, DoDAF, MODAF, AADL, UPDM etc.

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering tools such as Magic Systems of Systems Architecture (MSOSA), Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, Sparx System Engineering Architect, Rhapsoady, etc.

  • Extensive experience with applicable model-based engineering work

  • Demonstrated history of performance in systems or software engineering, and operating throughout the course of the engineering or operations lifecycle

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and the application of those to system design and development

  • Highly motivated and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, inter-personal, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience leading agile teams of professionals in development of complex programs/projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. security clearance

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree, from an accredited course of study in Systems Engineering with a focus on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience in Product Security, Cybersecurity, or Systems Security Engineering

  • Experience with analysis of requirements, architecture, design, and product design

  • Experience with formalized semantics and semantic modeling languages and frameworks such as RDF, OWL, SPARQL, and TTL

  • Familiarity and experience with ontology design and development

  • Experience in defining, allocating, implementing, assessing, and validating cybersecurity related requirements over the entire engineering and product life cycle

  • Understanding and experience in one or more area of systems, or software engineering, such as:

    • Development of Architecture, Requirements, Concepts of Operations, and Use Cases

    • Development of Hardware and Software products

    • Integration and Unit Test

    • Verification and Validation

    • Testing, including Acceptance and Fielding Tests

  • Experience and knowledge of enterprise architecture and business process modeling best practices and standards

  • Experience educating, coaching, or mentoring engineering professionals

  • Experience developing engineering training and process guidance documentation

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Summary Pay Range: $127,500 - $197,800
