SMX is seeking a Information Systems Cyber Analyst with a strong foundation in information systems (IS), network administration, systems administration, and cybersecurity. This role supports a range of contracts and assignments within the SMX Global Defense Business Unit, contributing to diverse network architectures and the deployment of advanced communication systems.

The candidate will engage with projects encompassing legacy, current, and next-generation telecommunications and communications-electronics (C-E) systems. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards, as well as managing daily vulnerability assessments and remediation tracking across various DoD IT systems and infrastructure.

Expertise in both wired and wireless network components is essential, including (but not limited to) network switches, routers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and encryption technologies. The ideal candidate will apply their technical acumen to support cyber integration efforts, ensuring alignment between legacy systems and state-of-the-art technologies across multiple DoD entities.

The role requires collaboration under the direction of designated team leads to promote team cohesion and mission success. Flexibility is key, as this position may involve a non-standard work schedule and up to 25% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations to support system integration and sustainment of critical IT systems.

 This position requires a DoD secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with RMF and other DoD cybersecurity frameworks
  • collaborate with architects and developers to integrate security measures into systems throughout the development lifecycle
  • Assess existing and potential system vulnerabilities and propose mitigation strategies
  • Support day-to-day vulnerability management and remediation tracking
  • Help prepare and update security documentation including POA&Ms and ATO artifacts
  • Provide basic incident response support and cyber hygiene practices
  • Candidate may assist with technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation
  • Candidate will perform duties to assist with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans, Cyber Security Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Active Security Clearance Required: Secret
  • BA/BS in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or similar
  • DoD 8140 compliant certification: minimum CompTia Security +
  • 7+ years of relevant cybersecurity or IT security experience
  • Basic understanding of C4I systems
  • Knowledge of Windows operating environments and Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012
  • Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) Administrator
  • Knowledge of Wide Area Network infrastructure and Architectures
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs, and basic cloud security principles

Desired Skills & Experience  

  • DoD 8140 compliant certification: CISSP
  • Interest in Zero Trust and modern DevSecOps concepts

The proposed salary for this position is:$103,000—$172,000 USD
