Cybersecurity Administrator 2

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Administrator 2 to join our talented, dynamic team.    

As a Cybersecurity Administrator 2, you will be on the front line in safeguarding Treasury Department digital assets and responding to potential cyber threats. You will play a critical role supporting the organization’s security infrastructure by managing, maintaining, and optimizing cybersecurity systems and tools within the Security Operations Center (SOC) and enterprise environment. This intermediate-level role builds on foundational skills to handle more complex administration tasks, ensure compliance, and collaborate with senior staff to enhance security operations.

This position will be required to work onsite daily in the DC Metro area, with site visits to Martinsburg, WV and Memphis, TN.

Duties

As a Cybersecurity Administrator 2, you will work on the Cybersecurity engineering team responsible for facilitating operational efficiency, stakeholder coordination, and mission-aligned cybersecurity initiatives. This position will support the maintenance of the Network Contingency Plan and direct support during COOP exercise or real events. Additionally, this role will support security assessment preparation and vulnerability remediation efforts. 

In this role, a typical day will include: 

• Perform system updates, patch management, and configuration changes following security policies (e.g., NIST SP 800-53) 

• Track critical vulnerabilities through remediation.   

• Perform systems and desktop administration, operations, tuning, and troubleshooting of the SOC systems, servers, desktops, laptops, and virtual machines  

• Support the virtualization of services as requested using VMWare products.  

• Track and report all operating system and hardware costs associated with maintaining this equipment and make recommendations regarding potential cost-saving initiatives.  

• Deploy, operate, maintain, and ensure availability of all endpoint and network security capabilities to support SOC environment and its capabilities. 

• Assist in audit preparations by providing evidence of system security controls and supporting vulnerability assessments. 

• Collaborate with SOC analysts and engineers to integrate new data sources and optimize tool performance. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity related field with 3 years of experience (7 years of experience in lieu of degree) 
• Active Secret Clearance 
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Splunk Fundamentals) a plus. 
• Familiarity with network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and security frameworks. 
• Proficiency with security administration tools (e.g., Splunk, Tenable, Microsoft Active Directory). 
• Ability to work in a dynamic, 24x7x365 operational environment.
