The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Cyber Development and Innovation to lead our cyber security development program. The ideal candidate will leverage cutting-edge technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to build and enhance our detection and Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) platform for the detection of advanced threats, and automate containment and response processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring the resilience and robustness of our organization's security posture. This program will build up Black & Veatch’s internal cyber capability while also working with our OT Cyber Services division to help reinforce Black & Veatch’s customer offerings.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive SOAR strategy aligned with the organization's security objectives.

Platform Development:

  • Design and implement an advanced threat detection and response platform utilizing AI and machine learning technologies. The position will act as the lead developer in creating new cyber detection technologies.

Automation:

  • Create and optimize automated processes for threat containment and response to minimize incident response time and human intervention.

Threat Intelligence:

  • Integrate threat intelligence feeds and analytics to enhance the detection and mitigation of sophisticated cyberthreats.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of security analysts, engineers, and developers to achieve organizationalgoals.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure a holisticapproach to security management.

Incident Response:

  • Oversee and coordinate incident response efforts, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security incidents.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all security measures and practices comply with industry standards and regulations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve the SOAR platform and processes to adapt to the evolving threatlandscape.

Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the state of security operations and incidentresponse activities.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a senior developer role focused oncreating security detection platforms and security operations, orchestration, and automation.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which mayinclude any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search,in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in creating new detection technologies, integrating threat intelligence, and structuring largescale data lakes is required.
  • Deep understanding of SOAR platforms, AI and machine learning applications in cybersecurity, and advancedthreat detection techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. Proficiency in scripting and automationtools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex security challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

In accordance with local law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $187,760.00 - $328,570.00
