The Role:
You will work with wide group of people including but not limited to Cloud SREs, DevSecOps Engineers, DBAs, BAs, Security Analysts, Architects and Developers to design, develop and maintain BPAY’s core and supporting infrastructure hosting key brands such as BPAY, Eftpos, PayID, PayTo and others.
You will play a key role in modernising, securing, and shaping the future of our infrastructure and ensuring it continues to meet the business needs.
The role reports directly to the Platform and Cloud SRE Manager and acts as a key member of the Digital Infrastructure – Platform and Cloud SRE team. They will work and collaborate closely with the engineers within the team and other business units within the division. The role also includes responsibilities to assist with conducting technical reviews for new and ongoing tactical and strategic initiatives.
Proposed Position Responsibilities are:
- Build, configure, maintain and document all systems – e.g. (RedHat Linux, Ansible, F5 LBs, etc).
- Build, configure and maintain infrastructure-as-code – Ansible.
- For virtual cloud, using Ansible Tower daily playbook execution to enforce configuration across all Linux VMware-hosted VMs.
- For network appliances such as BigIP F5 LBs, using Ansible and/or python to automate, build and maintain F5 Virtual IPs and their components
- Good scripting and coding skills
- Must be familiar with scripting in both Bash and Python. Other scripting languages are also desirable.
- Must be familiar with various data formats – JSON, YAML, INI, etc.
- Experience using local tools and software in Windows 10 such as Vagrant, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, Docker Desktop, WSL, VS Code, Postman, etc.
- Build, configure and maintain technical repeatable tasks and processes using various toolsets like Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Python, etc.
- Build, configure and maintain monitoring and dashboards utilising toolsets like Crowdstrike, Dynatrace, etc
- Apply software updates, security patches and changes as required on systems
- Install, review and maintain documentation and procedures for all systems responsible.
- Ensure reliable and timely backups using toolsets like Avamar, etc.
- Liaise with external and internal technical contacts/vendors to manage supported systems.
- Schedule installations and major changes according to change management practices.
- Establish, agree and meet Service Levels (SLA’s).
- Implement and provide support for all Systems under the remit of Digital Infrastructure
- Provide support to all internal business units maintenance and problem resolution and act as a 3rd level support for all environments (Linux, VMware, Networks, Cloud-based stacks – AWS and Azure, etc.)
- Complete all role requirements relating to development, implementation and maintenance of IT systems in accordance with the BPAY’s information security policies and procedures as directed by the Head of Digital Infrastructure
The capabilities we’re seeking are:
- Proven experience working on IT related projects.
- Broad IT technical skills with at least 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Working experience in at least one of each following technologies and frameworks:
- Demonstratable experience in supporting a major, large-scale infrastructure – over 250+ systems – with high committed SLAs
- Demonstratable experience in RedHat Enterprise Linux or other enterprise/commercially supported Linux variants
- Experience enforcing cyber security practices such as vulnerability management, endpoint/malware protection, etc.
- Familiar with security standards such as NIST, CIS, etc
- Experience with networking such as Firewalls, LBs, etc
- Demonstratable experience in Infrastructure-as-a-Code frameworks and automation such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.
- Demonstratable experience with source-code repositories and CI/CD pipelines such as Gitlab, Github, Bitbucket, etc
- Experience in scripting languages such as Python, PHP, Typescript.
- Experience in observability for infrastructure, applications, and cloud services with tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.
- Experience in Cloud security services and tools such as Crowdstrike, Wiz, etc
- Experience using IT Service Management frameworks and tools – ITIL, JIRA, ServiceNow
- Experience maintaining and supporting business continuity plans (DR) and demonstrating their effectiveness through simulations and exericses.
