Medline Software EngineerLocation: 100% onsite – Bethesda, MDClearance: Active Public Trust required

 

Overview:

 

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Medline Software Engineer to support and modernize the MedlinePlus and MedlinePlus Connect platforms. This role involves web application development, cloud migration, system integration, and accessibility compliance to enhance public health information delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Migrate MedlinePlus systems to AWS cloud environments with minimal disruption and improved performance.
  • Enhance MedlinePlus Connect with new features and NIH IC content, including RXCUI (RxNorm) mapping integration for EHR support.
  • Integrate Genetics Home Reference and HealthReach content while maintaining accessibility and consistency.
  • Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities using scanning tools and best practices.
  • Conduct Section 508 compliance testing using automated and manual methods.
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium) integrated with CI pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, manage data/content updates, and document processes to support ongoing operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proficient in Python/Django, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS/SASS, and Linux environments.

  • Experience with MedlinePlus platforms, content integration, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Strong background in application security, automated testing, CI/CD, and version control.

  • Expertise in responsive design and Section 508 accessibility compliance.
