Valiant Residential is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Information Technology and Security to lead all aspects of IT operations across corporate and property-level environments. This role is responsible for setting the IT vision, managing infrastructure and cybersecurity, and delivering dependable support services for a multi-site, fast-paced organization. The Director will balance strategic planning with direct oversight of IT systems, supported by one administrator, to create a scalable, secure, and responsive technology ecosystem.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. IT Strategy, Leadership & Department Oversight

  • Define and execute the IT department's roadmap, structure, and service delivery strategy.
  • Serve as the primary IT advisor, aligning technology with business goals.
  • Lead internal process documentation, team workflows, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Manage and mentor one direct report (IT System Administrator), fostering a culture of service excellence and accountability.

2. Infrastructure, Server, Network and Inventory Management

  • Oversee company-wide IT infrastructure including servers, firewalls, switches,      VPNs, and Wi-Fi across all corporate and property locations.
  • Manage setup, maintenance, and upgrades for both cloud-based and on-premises      servers, including storage, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of systems while proactively addressing      connectivity or bandwidth issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets (hardware/software) at corporate offices      and across all properties, including lifecycle tracking and asset allocation.
  • Implement standardized inventory controls, procurement protocols, and replacement      schedules to optimize cost and operational uptime.

3. User Support, Microsoft Environment & Access Control

  • Direct all user lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, Microsoft 365/Azure account creation, and access provisioning.
  • Maintain Active Directory and manage identity security across platforms.
  • Oversee property-level help desk operations, including tickets related to      hardware, Wi-Fi, printers, and password resets.
  • Set and monitor SLAs to ensure timely and effective resolution of support      requests.
  • Leverage PowerShell scripting for efficient user account creation, bulk updates,      and routine administrative tasks.
  • Develop and maintain automated workflows for provisioning and deprovisioning users      across Microsoft 365 and integrated systems to reduce manual errors and      increase onboarding speed.

4. Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Develop and enforce robust cybersecurity policies, protocols, and monitoring tools to protect organizational data and infrastructure.
  • Lead regular audits, patching schedules, vulnerability assessments, and staff security awareness training.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

5. Software Licensing, Vendor & Office Technology Management

  • Manage software procurement, licensing compliance, and vendor relationships for enterprise applications and infrastructure tools.
  • Coordinate IT setups for new offices or properties, including network, workstations, conferencing tools, and access control systems (e.g., security doors, access cards, surveillance).
  • Evaluate new technology opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Administer phone system infrastructure, including management of licenses and user configurations through RingCentral and AT&T for property-level operations and for the corporate team.
  • Oversee procurement, porting, number assignment, and technical support coordination related to telephony services across all sites.

6. Financial Planning & Performance Metrics

  • Track and report on service delivery performance, infrastructure reliability, and team responsiveness using KPIs and user feedback.
  • Identify cost-saving measures while supporting long-term growth and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, systems/network administration, or infrastructure leadership.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or strategic IT leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Intune, networking technologies, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Proficient in Copilot and Power Applications. 
  • Proven experience managing departmental budgets and vendor contracts.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels. 
  • Experience supporting distributed, field-based teams (property management, hospitality, or retail environments preferred).
  • Familiarity with ITIL or cybersecurity frameworks such as SOC 2 or NIST.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified, CISSP) preferred. 

Physical Requirements

  • Keying/typing, sitting, standing, and walking as part of daily work responsibilities.
  • Requires constant mental and/or visual attention; the work involves both repetitive and varied tasks, requiring sustained focus in an office environment.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal job performance.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate in other situations.
  • In-office work is required with less than 20% travel to vendor sites or industry events as needed.
