The Health and Civil group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Focus Engineer to join our team and lead the analysis, development and design of security requirements, collaborating with the architects, designers and developers to deliver the product. This role will primarily focus on the security architecture and design of our enterprise case management portfolio consisting of various solutions and products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NIST and FISMA policies, SAFe Agile methodologies, Java and Pega development platforms, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills.

As a Cyber Focus Engineer on this program, you will develop security strategy and integration methodology around architecture, design, development and implementation of secure cloud based solutions, focusing on the protection of data in flight and at rest. You will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. The Cyber Focus DevOps Engineer enables the quick development and release of changes and bug-fixes on an as-required basis and incorporation of feedback from developers/users.

Cyber Focus Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop security strategy and integration methodology around architecture, design, development and implementation of cloud based solutions
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems focusing on security.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, for hardware and software specifications
  • Utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for security improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes
  • Responsible for systems overall security ensuring functionality and performance is not affected by security designs.
  • Enable the quick development and release of changes and bug-fixes on an as-required basis and incorporation of feedback from developers/users
  • Deliver innovative product, service, or a combination of products and services that address a customer's specific requirements
  • Support development of enterprise solutions for CSSP cloud subscribers
  • Develop innovative approaches and solutions, using non-quantitative tools and guidelines from experience
  • Provides execution guidance and practical engineering support to mission and subscriber teams working with the strategic guidance from the Team Lead focusing on system and data security.
  • Interface directly with subscriber base to gather clear requirements, form realistic solutions that can be implemented successfully in a timely manner
  • Develop engineering and design briefs and documentation to support solutions being executed
  • Communicate with internal and client project team members
  • Work to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree and 10-13 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 8-10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with cybersecurity guidance for Trusted Internet Connections 3.0 and Zero Trust Strategy and ICAM (Identity Credential and Access Management)
  • Experience with NIST SP 800 series or ISO 27000 series documents for information security management and risk assessment
  • Extensive experience in Cloud Technologies and automation techniques, primarily Ansible
  • Extensive experience with the Linux operating system (RHCSA or RHCE level)
  • Understanding of aspects of architect and design enterprise cloud solutions and AWS/Azure
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task, complete tasks without direct supervision, and function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work and communicate with and adapt to personnel at all levels and from technical disciplines (software developers, test engineers, system engineers, etc.)
  • Experience with managed and unmanaged services in a multi-CSP environment to take advantage of the latest technology products, services
  • Demonstrated expertise in security systems engineering, including security requirements analysis and system architecture design
  • Ability to be cleared by the US Government via a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working on projects in an IRS/Treasury environment
  • At least one nationally recognized vendor certification
  • Experience in Cloud operations such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud based application development or infrastructure sustainment
  • Cloud Technical, Business or TCO Accreditation
  • Cloud Architect, DevOps or SysOps Associate or Professional Certification
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Active IRS MBI

Pay Range:

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
