Cyber Security System Administrator

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Sev1Tech is seeking a Cyber Security System Administrator to support daily operations and security system administration for a hybrid IT environment in alignment with CMMC Level 2 compliance. Supporting a newly awarded contract with Omnitron, this role plays a critical part in ensuring security controls are properly configured, monitored, and maintained across on-premise, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCC High), and federated systems.

This administrator will manage systems such as firewalls, VMs, endpoints, and SIEM platforms while implementing best practices for patch management, access control, and incident preparedness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor critical IT and security systems including firewalls, virtual machines (VMs), endpoints, routers, wireless systems, and printers
• Deploy, configure, and maintain EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), MFA, and SIEM technologies
• Perform system hardening and patch management across Windows, Linux, and hybrid cloud environments to support ongoing compliance
• Monitor security tools and logs to detect and respond to anomalies or unauthorized activity
• Support end-user access provisioning, including onboarding to Microsoft GCC High environments
• Administer and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and user permissions across systems
• Execute secure data backup and recovery procedures and conduct tabletop exercises simulating real-world incidents such as compromised supplier scenarios
• Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and changes in support of audit readiness
• Assist with the implementation of technical controls aligned with CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171/172
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to support secure system configurations and technology upgrades
• Perform routine system health checks, monitor alerts, and ensure compliance with internal SLAs and government cybersecurity standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 DOE

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of system administration experience, preferably in a federal or DoD environment
• Experience administering and securing hybrid systems across on-prem, AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, and GCC High
• Strong working knowledge of firewalls, EDR platforms, endpoint management tools, MFA, and SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm)
• Experience with patching, hardening, and baseline compliance per DISA STIGs or other federal standards
• Familiarity with CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171/172, and federal cybersecurity frameworks
• Demonstrated experience with access control implementation, account management, and user onboarding
• Knowledge of secure backup and recovery strategies, including incident simulation (e.g., ransomware, compromised vendors)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in Windows and Linux environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain detailed documentation and SOPs

Desired Qualifications

• Security+, CySA+, SSCP, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, AWS/Azure Administrator, or equivalent
