Penetration Tester

Key Role:

Support proactive cybersecurity operations by emulating adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to uncover weaknesses in enterprise systems and guide mitigation efforts. Work closely with SOC analysts, engineers, and incident responders to validate defensive capabilities and provide feedback. Develop and maintain custom scripts, tools, and techniques for penetration testing and automation. Produce detailed findings reports including technical risk descriptions, exploitation steps, and prioritized remediation guidance. Plan and conduct penetration tests, red team operations, and adversary emulation exercises on federal networks, applications, and systems across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Be responsible for conducting advanced security assessments and penetration tests across various systems, identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating their severity, and providing detailed reports to stakeholders to prioritize remediation efforts. Work closely with SOC analysts, engineers, and incident responders to validate defensive capabilities and provide feedback. Develop and maintain custom scripts, tools, and techniques for penetration testing and automation. Produce detailed findings reports including technical risk descriptions, exploitation steps, and prioritized remediation guidance. Leads projects and mentors junior team members while staying updated on emerging threats and security trends. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking, red teaming, or adversary emulation

  • Experience with Metasploit, Cobalt Strike, Burp Suite, Kali Linux, Nmap, Nessus, and PowerShell

  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation and custom tool development 

  • Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP Top 10, CVEs, and post-exploitation techniques

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems

  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA PenTest+, OSCP, CISSP, OSWP, GPEN, GWAP, or GPEN Certification

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a SOC or cyber operations environment

  • Experience with NIST 800-53 and other federal cybersecurity frameworks

  • Possession of strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing formal technical reports

  • Public Trust

Vetting:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
