We are seeking a dynamic, technically adept Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) IT Controls Program Lead to oversee the technology portfolio oversight of the IT General Controls (ITGC) program. This pivotal role combines technology leadership with deep expertise in SOX compliance frameworks to drive design evaluations, operational effectiveness assessments, and root cause analyses of IT controls. You will build strategic partnerships with external auditors, finance, and IT teams to ensure a robust control environment and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end governance of the SOX ITGC portfolio, ensuring comprehensive control coverage and compliance to audit standards.
  • Drive technology-enabled assessments of control design and operating effectiveness leveraging automation tools and data analytics to enhance audit efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve standardized taxonomies and control frameworks aligned with IT architectures and compliance requirements.
  • Perform advanced root cause analysis using technical insights to identify systemic issues and recommend scalable remediation strategies.
  • Serve as the technology liaison with external auditors, finance, and IT stakeholders, integrating control assessments into business processes and audit cycles.
  • Oversee remediation efforts, ensuring timely resolution of control gaps and continuous monitoring for sustained compliance.
  • Architect and optimize process flows, risk and control matrices (RCMs), incorporating technology controls such as identity and access management, change management, and system security.
  • Produce executive-level dashboards and reporting through data visualization tools to provide actionable insights into control status, risk posture, and remediation progress.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging emerging technologies—such as AI, machine learning, and automation—to elevate SOX compliance programs and control effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Proven technology leadership experience in SOX ITGC and automated control compliance, with strong knowledge of integrating technical controls into broader compliance frameworks.
  • Deep technical expertise across IT infrastructure, security, application controls, and compliance technologies.
  • Experience with technology solutions for control testing, monitoring, and remediation tracking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated by successful root cause analyses and resolution of systemic issues.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally with auditors, finance, IT teams, and executive leadership.
  • Proficient in risk and control documentation, process flow design, and executive reporting using contemporary technology tools.
  • Relevant certifications preferred, including CISA, CISSP, CISM, or other technology-focused SOX compliance credentials.
  • Typically requires 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of related experience.

Our Lead Technology Security Managers earn between $130,700 - $196,100. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
