The Security Analyst is responsible for protecting the organization’s IT systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role involves monitoring security alerts, analyzing vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, and supporting the implementation of security measures to ensure compliance and safeguard critical assets. The purpose of this role is to support transformational change in Cyber and information security risk management within the core business, 3rd party suppliers, programs, and projects at QBE. This role is part of a Group Cyber Security team responsible for safeguarding the company from sophisticated cyber threats, requiring deep technical knowledge and a collaborative approach to deliver strategic business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze security alerts from various tools and systems (SIEM, firewalls, antivirus, IDS/IPS, etc.).
  • Investigate suspicious activities, security breaches, and other incidents to determine their origin and impact.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation efforts in coordination with IT teams.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining security systems, including endpoint protection, encryption, firewall rules, data loss prevention policies and access controls.
  • Support implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Document security incidents and participate in post-incident reviews and reporting and engage across the organization to ensure issues are identified, self-reported, and notified to key stakeholders.
  • Stay current on the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends and act with integrity and transparency in threat and risk identification and problem solving.
  • Participate in audits and compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Assist with user training and awareness programs to promote cybersecurity hygiene.
  • Contribute to the delivery of an effective Cyber and information security Capability across the organization.
  • Engage in building cyber and information security experience, coaching understanding and building awareness.
  • Build collaborative relationships to identify and solve root cause problems, reducing potential threats and risks and to avoid security problems manifesting as business problems.
  • Take personal accountability for identifying security weaknesses and ensuring mitigation to a secure conclusion.
  • Role model the creation and innovation of solutions and threat mitigation strategies.
