SMX harnesses the transformative power of technology to help realize your digital future.SMX is looking for a highly motivated Senior Systems Security Engineer to join our team in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in Dahlgren, VA. The Senior Systems Security Engineer will work as part of our team to provide technical leadership for network and systems security and administration, including the design, deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of security solutions in alignment with DoD/Navy cybersecurity policies and standards.
This position will be hybrid with the onsite work location in Dahlgren, VA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and manage security solutions for DoD/Navy systems
- Conduct vulnerability scanning and analysis - Complete risk assessments to identify and mitigate security threats
- Perform SCAP (Security Content Automation Protocol) scans
- System hardening using STIG implementation
- Endpoint protection administration for virus and malware scans, ensuring compliance with DoD standards
- Support Navy RMF accreditation, auditing, continuous monitoring, and maintaining compliance with DoD/Navy security frameworks
- Troubleshoot security incidents, access control issues, and system vulnerabilities
- Provide technical security guidance and cybersecurity best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- Clearance Required: Secret
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret
- Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent
- 6+ years of professional experience in relation to IT security with the DoD or Navy
- Proficiency in security technologies, including cryptography, system and network security, and secure software development practices
- Experience with the following:
- SCAP scans
- STIG implementation
- Vulnerability scanning
- Endpoint protection
- IAT III certification such as CISSP, CISM, GSLC, CASP or equivalent

The proposed salary for this position is:$96,000—$206,300 USD
