The Customer Security & Trust (CST) organization at Microsoft is seeking a Senior Reporting & Communications Program Manager to manage our flagship Microsoft Digital Defense Report (MDDR) and drive key content initiatives across the organization. In this role, you will harness your passion for cybersecurity and storytelling to make the digital world safer for everyone.
As a Senior Reporting & Communications Program Manager, you will lead the end-to-end production of the MDDR – an annual report that analyzes global cyber threats and trends, sharing with the world insights drawn from Microsoft’s unique vantage point. You will orchestrate contributions from teams across Microsoft, translate complex data into compelling narratives, and ensure the report meets the needs of executives, policymakers, and the security community. This opportunity will allow you to sharpen your project management, data analysis, and editorial skills while creating a high-impact publication that advances Microsoft’s cybersecurity vision. In addition to the MDDR, you will manage web content and internal communications for the CST organization, including our team’s external website content, internal reporting, and SharePoint site updates. You’ll have the chance to collaborate with colleagues and subject matter experts globally. Responsibilities
- Lead the MDDR Content Program: Drive the end-to-end development of the annual Microsoft Digital Defense Report, including planning, research, content creation, editing, and final publication. Ensure the report’s narrative is compelling, data-driven, and aligned with Microsoft’s security strategy.
- Cybersecurity Storytelling: Analyze cybersecurity data and work with others to translate complex threat trends into clear insights and visualizations. Craft content that resonates with key audiences – from government officals and policymakers to CEOs, CFOs, CISOs, and the broader security community.
- Project Management: Develop and manage the project timeline for the report’s production. Coordinate cross-functional contributions from numerous teams and external partners, maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure on-time delivery of the report.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across engineering, research, legal, and marketing teams. Facilitate regular content reviews and workshops, consolidate input from others, and align diverse perspectives into a unified report.
- Web Content Management Collaboration (CST): Manage the creation and update of cybersecurity content on CST’s external website, in collaboration with the CELA Public Affairs, to ensure that blogs, articles, and web pages are up-to-date.
- Internal Reporting: Oversee internal reporting requirements for the CST organization, turning data and achievements into clear, concise reports for leadership. Maintain and update the internal CST SharePoint site with relevant news, documents, and resources, fostering information sharing and transparency within the team.
- Content Landscape Awareness: Stay informed on the global cybersecurity content landscape, including regional nuances, industry developments, and competitor strategies. Apply insights to refine content approaches and share practices across teams.
- Threat Landscape Awareness: Stay current on the evolving global threat landscape by monitoring cybersecurity intelligence, emerging attack vectors, and adversary behaviors. Integrate insights into content development and strategic planning to ensure relevance and impact.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in program management, digital content publishing/management, or experience in a writing or editing role
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience leading projects or publications end-to-end, collaborating across teams, with organizational and project management skills.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting data to inform content strategy, with the ability to translate insights into clear, impactful data visualizations.
- Experience creating content on technical or security-related topics.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)
- 3+ years of recent experience with digital publishing modalities (e.g. web content management, blogging platforms, social media, or online reports).
Writing and editorial skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity. - Familiarity with cybersecurity and AI concepts, the threat landscape, and experience creating content on technical or security-related topics. Ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences, including technical professionals and non-technical executive stakeholders.
- Data analysis and visualization skills (e.g. proficiency in Excel, Power BI or similar tools) to drive data-driven storytelling and interpret complex information for reports.
- Experience managing or updating content on internal communication platforms (such as SharePoint) is a plus.
Content Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
