The role of the new Knowledge Management Department (KM) is to enable the Bank to better harness data, information and knowledge in pursuit of its goals. 

As Manager, Information Compliance, you will play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s approach to information governance. You will be the organisational SME for the management of government classified information and lead efforts to manage and reduce the risk of unauthorised information exposure and handling across the Bank. As the business owner of Microsoft Purview, you will oversee its adoption and governance while also supporting compliance across a range of enterprise information systems. Operating across the domains of governance, business enablement and technology, this role carries both strategic influence and operational responsibility, ensuring information is managed effectively and in line with regulatory and enterprise standards.

About the role

  • Develop and deliver strategies to improve staff compliance with information handling practices through targeted support and education programmes

  • Monitor the organisation’s information management compliance posture and emerging risks, and provide regular reporting and insights to stakeholders

  • Lead the implementation of processes to monitor, assess and remediate risks related to information handling

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s information governance policies

  • Act as the primary business owner for Microsoft Purview, overseeing governance, risk assessment, mitigation and operational management

  • Ensure information compliance across other enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Bank’s information and knowledge management capabilities

About you

  • A strong understanding of information management, information security risk and information handling principles.

  • A solid technology background with exposure to product ownership principles.

  • The ability to problem-solve, plan, and deliver initiatives across both business and technology domains.

  • Strong organisational skills, the ability to judge what issues are most important and to reprioritise quickly as circumstances change.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills together with an ability to work collaboratively with other sections in the Bank.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Purview, M365 compliance features and other enterprise information platforms

Essential Requirement

The successful candidate will hold or be required to undertake a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance, and as a result we can only accept applications from Australian citizens.
