SMX is looking for a highly motivated Senior Network Systems Engineer to join our team in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in Dahlgren, VA. The Senior Network Systems Engineer will work as part of our team to design, implement, and manage the customer secure network infrastructures, leveraging Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP, and VoIP technologies according to DoD/Navy cybersecurity procedures and policies.

This position will be onsite in Dahlgren, VA. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage secure LAN/WAN architectures for a DoD/Navy environment.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Maintain security configuration compliance and risk management in accordance with DoD/Navy policies.
  • Enhance network security and performance using Cisco and Juniper networking technologies
  • Implement and optimize VoIP solutions
  • Conduct network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization 
  • Ensure mission-critical availability by maintaining cable plant design and network infrastructure installations
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Required Skills & Experience 

  • Clearance Required: Secret
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of professional experience in relation to design and implementation in local area network (LAN)/ wide area network (WAN) corporate environments using: Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies with routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls and cable plant designs
  • IAT III certification such as CISSP, CISM, GSLC, CASP or equivalent

The proposed salary for this position is:$96,400—$160,600 USD
