Lead Ops Cybersecurity Analyst - Digital Process Systems Engineering - McGuire Nuclear Station
Job Summary
This position will provide lead support of the Cybersecurity program for operational assets. The Ops Cybersecurity organizations provide direct service and support to generating stations in their assigned business unit. This work will ensure compliance with the Duke Energy enterprise cybersecurity requirements. This includes response to cybersecurity threats and events as well as implementation of the cybersecurity program. The cybersecurity programs include all infrastructure asset security including but not limited to firewalls, endpoint protection, and industrial control systems (ICS.) The work includes hands on activities such as patching, antivirus protections, account management, cyber asset inventory, and security baselines.
The lead analyst is responsible for analysis and implementation of complex cybersecurity solutions which address real and potential threats specific to power generation assets and equipment. The lead analyst will coordinate across their assigned area(s) of responsibility, Central Services organizations, and other business units (i.e. System Operations) to ensure overall grid stability based on implementation of the ops cybersecurity programs. The lead analyst provides direct oversight of the hands-on work performed by other cybersecurity analysts in their business area. They are also responsible for continuous improvement of assigned standards and portions of the overall applicable Ops cybersecurity program. This lead analyst will work closely with NERC Compliance teams to ensure the ops cybersecurity program is aligned with NERC CIP regulations. This lead analyst will also work directly with Operations leadership to detect, assess and respond to cybersecurity events and incidents in assigned area(s) of responsibility. This will involve solving complex problems, managing work plans and providing leadership to others.
The lead analyst will also be responsible for ongoing development and improvement of the Cybersecurity Program intended to maintain a strong security posture. This may include revision of program documentation as well as oversight of design and implementation of projects that impact security.
This position requires understanding of the integrated generating plant systems and processes to secure plant cyber assets. The lead analyst demonstrates strong understanding of the impact of cybersecurity processes on generating systems and overall electric grid. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to successfully balance cybersecurity risk reduction with protection of the generation stations and overall power generation.
This is a hybrid position at McGuire Nuclear station. Work schedule is four tens, Monday – Thursday, with occasional night or weekend support required.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development, support and contribute to the ongoing strategy of the Cybersecurity program
- Prevent, detect, assess and respond to complex distributive control system cyber security events and incidents
- Provide oversight of the Cybersecurity Program implementation including oversight of the analysts performing hands-on cybersecurity work
- Lead large, complex or multiple smaller ops cyber security projects and efforts
Basic Requirements
- Bachelors in Engineering or Computer Science
- 8 years minimum required related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of power generation Distributive Control Systems (DCS)
- Working knowledge of cyber security principles, processes and technologies
- Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include project coordination and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Demonstrated competency in developing effective solutions to business problems
- Working knowledge of NERC CIP regulations
- Working knowledge of network architecture and firewall security
- Ability to troubleshoot network switches and routers on power generation station DCS and data networks

Specific Requirements
- Nuclear Plant unescorted access
- This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
- Occasional work during nights and weekends or extended workdays may be necessary to support nuclear regulatory compliance, unit outages, or emergent equipment issues callouts.
- Typical Office environment with flexibility to support plant operations. Must be able to work in an industrial environment safely.
