Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to lead incident handing efforts, perform threat hunting, and conduct security operations to proactively identify vulnerabilities and strengthen our defensive capabilities. Lead the program in table top exercises to help strengthen Incident Response processes and collaboration between the various stakeholders. Lead the program in detecting, analyzing, and responding to threats against the program infrastructure and assets.

This role is located in Roy, Utah and will not allow for telecommuting.

You will perform assessments of systems and networks within the networking environment or enclave(s) and identify where those systems and networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy. This is achieved through passive evaluations such as compliance audits and active evaluations such as vulnerability assessments. Establish strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and supports obtaining certification and accreditation of systems. You will collaborate with Industrial Security, System Admins, Network Admins, and Program Managers to review security documentation, as well as investigations, software research, hardware introduction and release, emerging technology research inspections and periodic audits.

You will assist in the implementation of the required government policy (i.e., NISPOM, NIST, etc.), make recommendations on process tailoring, participate in and document process activities. Perform analyses to validate established security requirements and to recommend additional security requirements and safeguards. Document accreditation and technical coordination activities and update the System Security Plans (SSP) and the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M). Periodically, you will conduct complete reviews of system audits and monitor corrective actions until all actions are closed.

This role may be filled at the level 3/Principal or level 4/Senior Principal level depending on the years of experience you bring.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 04, Sr Principal: Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, master's degree and 5 years of experience, or PhD with 3 years of experience. An additional 3 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree as well as DoD IAM or IAT Certs or equivalent.
  • Level 03, Principal: Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience, master's degree and 3 years of experience, or PhD with 1 year of experience. An additional 3 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree as well as DoD IAM or IAT Certs or equivalent.

Remaining Qualifications for Both levels:

  • Experience in planning and configuring enterprise-level security tools, including our Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools such as Splunk, Trellix, and Tenable.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and requirements development from control listings.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites up to 10% of the time.
  • Capable of assessing the Programs' system security posture in compliance with customer requirements and directives.
  • Adept at adjusting commercial security methodologies and technologies within sensitive and proprietary customer environments in accordance with NIST 800-53.
  • Experience with RMF (NIST 800-37) accreditation functions, including documentation, scanning, assessment, Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) management, and all steps of the RMF process.
  • An active Top Secret level clearance is required to start.

​Preferred Qualifications:

  • Briefed to one or many AP SAPs and ability to start immediately.
  • DoD-Approved ‎8140 or 8570 certification for IAM Level II or IAT Level III, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification (or Associate) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team and developing technical proposals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with employees and management at all levels

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
