Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Protection/Detection Engineer to design fire detection and fire protection systems, as well as other firefighting measures such as extinguishers, escape routes, and related safety features
- Conduct fire hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fire protection systems with other plant systems and operations
- Ensure compliance with nuclear industry regulations, including both Indian and international standards
- Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for fire protection systems
- Perform regular inspections and audits of existing fire protection systems to maintain optimal performance and safety
- Investigate fire-related incidents and provide recommendations for improvements
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in fire protection technologies and nuclear safety regulations
- Provide technical guidance and training to plant personnel on fire safety procedures and equipment usage
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills related to fire safety in nuclear facilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, with a focus on nuclear facilities
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) certification preferred
- Extensive knowledge of fire protection systems design, analysis, and implementation in nuclear environments
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software for system design and documentation
- Experience with fire modeling software and risk assessment techniques
- Strong understanding of nuclear industry regulations and standards, including familiarity with Indian nuclear regulations
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE)
- Comprehensive understanding of nuclear power plant systems and operations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and respond to emergency situations
- Willingness to travel to various nuclear facilities as needed
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Hindi or other Indian languages is a plus
