Job Summary

The Senior Internal Auditor plans and executes internal audit activities with a primary focus on SOX compliance and broader operational and assurance engagements. This role assesses the design and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), ensures timely documentation and testing of controls, and supports remediation efforts in coordination with business owners and external auditors. The auditor also conducts risk-based reviews across operational areas to evaluate compliance, efficiency, and process integrity, driving continuous improvement across the control environment.

Job Duties

• Lead and perform walkthroughs, testing, and evaluation of internal controls as part of the SOX compliance program. (Essential)
• Coordinate with control owners to ensure proper documentation, timely execution, and remediation of control deficiencies. (Essential)
• Collaborate with external auditors to align on scope, testing approaches, and results. (Essential)
• Ensure audit workpapers are thoroughly documented, logically organized, and clearly support audit conclusions; communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders through written reports and verbal discussions. (Essential)
• Prepare clear, concise audit reports that communicate issues, risks, and recommendations to management. (Essential)
• Monitor the status of remediation efforts and validate corrective actions taken. (Essential)
• Identify process improvement opportunities and provide practical recommendations to enhance efficiency and control effectiveness. (Essential)
• Other duties as assigned.
• Support the annual risk assessment and audit planning process.
• Stay current with changes in regulations, standards, and best practices impacting internal controls and audit practices.
• Demonstrate strong independent judgment and initiative by designing audit approaches and strategies from the ground up, adapting to emerging risks and evolving business processes.
• Drive enhancements to the internal audit function by implementing tools and methodologies that improve audit effectiveness and efficiency, including data analytics and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across accounting, finance, innovation and other business functions to gain a comprehensive understanding of financial and technology-related risks and ensure effective audit coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. (Required)
• In lieu of the above education requirements, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• 3 years in Experience in auditing various business systems, including ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) (Required)
• 3 years in Corporate internal audit or public accounting experience (Required)
• Understanding of Business Process and IT internal auditing, GAAP, PCAOB standards, SOX compliance, and the COBIT & COSO framework
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts; excellent analytical and quantitative abilities; and a quick learner capable of rapidly understanding processes and systems.
• Basic understanding of data analytics techniques and tools (e.g., Alteryx, Domo) with the ability to perform simple data analysis to support audit testing and insights.
• Ability to think creatively and identify long-term solutions to complex matters.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems, technologies, and audit methodologies.
• Required Certifications/Licensures:(CPA, CISA, CIA, or CISSP certification or actively pursuing)
