SMX is seeking a Cloud Business Operations analyst to support a government contract with the Department of Navy. At SMX, our clients’ success depends on IT systems that support global mission success. We’re seeking an experienced Cloud Business Operations analyst who’s eager to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure and operations to support business goals.

As a Cloud Business Operations Analyst, you will build and leverage alliances to accelerate growth, innovation, and market expansion and deliver coordinated and transparent execution of business-critical initiatives. The role requires facilitating alignment across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success and driving effective communication and decision-making forums. The position will also receive world-class training to become a leader in the field. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying skills and expertise to technology-based innovation that creates real-world solutions for global impact.

This position requires a DoD TS/SCI security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain cloud adoption and optimization strategy
  • Establish governance policies for cost, security, and compliance
  • Conduct quarterly cloud health and cost optimization reviews
  • Partner with InfoSec to enforce cloud security policies (e.g., IAM, encryption, threat detection)
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Develop and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Collaborate with finance on budgeting and cloud usage reporting
  • Evaluate and manage cloud service providers and third-party tools

Programmatic Support

  • Identify potential technology, channel, and go-to-market partners
  • Assess alignment with business goals, technical fit, and market opportunity
  • Co-develop solution offerings and joint value propositions
  • Establish partnership KPIs and performance tracking frameworks
  • Ensure mutual compliance with partnership agreements and obligations
  • Explore co-innovation opportunities in cloud-native services, AI/ML, or SaaS integrations
  • Establish standard operating procedures, tools, and reporting for programs
  • Track milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and risks
  • Facilitate alignment across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical stakeholders
  • Drive effective communication and decision-making forums
  • Provide program updates, dashboards, and executive summaries
  • Maintain project documentation and audit trails
  • Prepare board-level presentations and investment cases
  • Conduct post-mortems and retrospectives
  • Identify bottlenecks and process inefficiencies
  • Implement best practices and scalability frameworks

Requires Skills & Experience

  • Clearance Required: Must have an active Top Secret clearance eligibility for SCI
  • Four (4) or more years of applicable work experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT-related field or a qualifying substitution
  • Bachelor’s degree can be substituted with an associate’s degree plus six (6) years of applicable work experience, or no degree plus eight (8) years of applicable work experience
  • Advanced Software Skills: Proficient in using IT project management tools and platforms, as well as the Microsoft suite and/or other project management software. Advanced Writing/Presentation skills
  • Superior organizational abilities, including attention to detail, multitasking, and the capacity to manage multiple large-scale federal IT, cloud, and geospatial infrastructure projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. The proposed salary for this position is:$101,300—$168,800 USD
