Akamai's industry-leading Security Operations Command Center (SOCC) protects various enterprises. We handhold our security customers against real-time cyber attacks and cyberterrorism daily. Partnering with other technical teams, we detect and mitigate ongoing attacks, helping enterprises protect their online presence. We are the world leader in DDoS, web application, and bot-based attack mitigation.

Respond to cyber attacks in real time

As Security Architect, you'll provide advanced consultation for mitigating attacks on critical web applications & API for Akamai's managed security customers, like banks, e-commerce and other enterprises. You will help identify real-time cyber-attacks based on available data, strategize & suggest or deploy mitigations while neutralizing adverse impact to the end users. 

As a Security Architect, you will be responsible for:

• Devising and engaging mitigation strategies to prevent real-time attacks, using Akamai products & platform
• Performing advanced analysis to identify attacks and threats to customers' digital properties - web applications and associated API's

• Providing consultation & attack mitigation strategies to customers or peer teams based on the analysis

   

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Science or related fields or its equivalent.
• Have familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks, Streamlit, or Dash for rapid prototyping
• Have knowledge of cloud platform security logs
• Have an understanding of REST APIs and JSON parsing for fetching scan data
• Have experience with Git and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub)
• Have exposure to machine learning basics- classification, clustering (esp. for anomaly detection)
• Have proficiency in Python and SQL
• Have skills in Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Seaborn, or Plotly
• Have an understanding of basic statistics (mean, median, mode, std dev, IQR, correlation)
• Have relevant industry experience on the Akamai Platform or API, or Web Application Security
• Have basic understanding of protocols like HTTP, TCP/IP
• Have basic knowledge of common OWASP top 10 and how they relate to internet services, compromise, or attacks
• Have excellent communication skills & teamwork
• Have a passion for helping customers & peers during critical engagements
• Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $70,500 - $146,500/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
