Information Governance Manager

Based in Colchester | Hybrid Working Available

Up to £40,000 + £4,000 Car Allowance or Company Car

40 hours per week: Mon - Fri

Are you passionate about data protection and governance? We’re looking for a driven and detail-focused professional to join our team and play a critical role in shaping our approach to information security and compliance.

About the Role

You’ll be a key member of our Information Security and Governance Team, leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of data protection and governance controls across our branches. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the Group to maintain high standards and provide insight into evolving regulations, including the Data Protection Act.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact on how we operate. Based in Colchester with hybrid working available, the position also involves travel to our UK sites when required. All necessary equipment will be provided, and there are no direct reports in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal GDPR audits and manage action plans
  • Carry out risk assessments for new and existing business initiatives
  • Investigate data breaches and follow up on governance incidents
  • Deliver engaging training and awareness materials
  • Provide practical guidance to colleagues across the Group
  • Support compliance with PCI DSS requirements
  • Help plan and test business continuity strategies
  • Stay ahead of legislation and share relevant updates with the business

What You’ll Need:

  • CISSP / CISM / CISA (or willingness to work toward one)
  • BCS (ISEB) Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (or willingness to undertake)
  • Experience conducting information risk assessments and presenting outcomes
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • A-levels, BTEC, or equivalent experience in business/management
  • Solid knowledge of current Data Protection legislation
  • A full Valid UK driving license

Desirable Extras:

  • Experience delivering technical presentations to large groups
  • Familiarity with auditing or data input systems such as ServiceNow

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your license over 3 months and have less than 9 points.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a full security clearance check before employment commences
