Information Security Consultant

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Provide specialist consultancy advice to our business units and IT teams on information system security risks and controls. This role is crucial for all business projects and system implementations, and you'll be responsible for ensuring change initiatives are delivered in line with Westpac security architecture, policies and standards.

We're looking for an individual with experience in both consulting and familiarity with security frameworks.  You'll champion the management of security risk and will balance meeting our contractual and compliance obligations whilst ensuring our risk management strategies remain effective and are delivered. You will possess a high level of expertise in the areas of Security Risk Analysis and new Information Security Technologies.

Our Information Security Group is the focal point within the bank for information system security risks and this role not only manages risk issues within the bank but also across our supplier organisations, including governance of outsourced security processes.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Information Security or other relevant fields.

• Professional body qualification (e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP) is desirable. 

• Experience with common information security framework.

• Experience with common cloud platforms, container-based technologies, and automation.

• Experience with applicable regulatory and industry compliance requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI DSS).

• Ability to raise awareness of the importance of information security and educate fellow stakeholders. 

• Proven ability to coach, mentor and positively influence stakeholders, from colleagues to executive level.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong relationships. 

• Ability to contextualise security issues and business risks both verbally and in writing. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and business acumen.
