Responsibilities
Our client is looking for a Tenable Security Engineer to join their team! This role will be part of the Security Operations Center (SOC), responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing Tenable solutions across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Tenable.sc and Nessus, as well as experience integrating these tools with SIEMs, ITSM platforms, and asset inventories to enhance vulnerability management, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Deploy and configure Tenable.sc and Nessus for enterprise-wide vulnerability scanning
Optimize Tenable tools for effective and scalable use across heterogeneous environments, including Windows, Linux, cloud, and OT systems
Integrate Tenable with SIEM tools (e.g., Elastic), ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow), and asset inventory systems
Design and implement dashboards, reports, and risk metrics aligned with enterprise security goals
Manage credentialed scan configurations and maintain scanning schedules and policies
Provide technical guidance on CVSS scoring, asset classification, and vulnerability prioritization
Support continuous monitoring and vulnerability lifecycle management efforts
Collaborate with SOC and cyber operations teams to align vulnerability management with broader security operations
Requirements
10+ years of experience in cybersecurity
8+ years of hands-on experience designing, engineering, and implementing Tenable solutions
Proficient with Tenable.sc, Nessus scanners, and Nessus Agents in large enterprise environments
Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and application vulnerabilities
Familiarity with CVSS scoring and asset-based risk assessments
Ability to integrate vulnerability data with other security platforms using APIs
Education/Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, business, management, or a related field
Tenable Vulnerability Management, Tenable Security Center, or Tenable OT Security certification
Preferred Requirements
Experience working in a SOC or cyber operations environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to brief technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience with API integrations, data normalization, and managing the full vulnerability lifecycle
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Must be able to obtain a US Government Public Trust Clearance.
