ROLE OVERVIEW

The Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Information Technology (IT) Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with SOX regulations as they pertain to IT systems, processes, and controls. This role oversees the design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of IT controls, ensures alignment with financial reporting objectives, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to reduce compliance risks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SOX Compliance Program Design and Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT compliance frameworks to meet SOX requirements.
  • Manage annual SOX IT compliance testing, including risk assessments, scoping, and evaluations.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of IT controls, policies, and procedures.

Control Design and Testing:

  • Ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of IT general controls (ITGCs), automated controls, and application controls.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of IT systems and processes to identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and internal teams during control testing and remediation.

  Risk Management:

  • Identify IT risks related to financial reporting and propose mitigative actions.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in IT systems, infrastructure, and processes that may impact compliance.

 Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with finance, audit, and IT teams to align SOX objectives with organizational goals.
  • Serve as the liaison with external auditors for IT-related SOX compliance matters.
  • Provide guidance to IT and business teams regarding compliance requirements and best practices.

Training and Awareness:

  • Educate IT staff and other stakeholders on SOX compliance requirements and the importance of maintaining effective IT controls.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on IT compliance policies and procedures.

  Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with regulatory updates, industry standards, and emerging technologies related to IT compliance.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SOX IT compliance program

QUALIFICATONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CIA, CPA) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT compliance, auditing, or risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience with SOX IT compliance, including ITGCs and application controls.
  • Experience working in regulated industries or public companies preferred.
  • Big 4 Public Accounting experience preferred

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SOX regulations, IT control frameworks (e.g., COBIT), and financial reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, database management, and financial applications).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills that adhere to audit requirements
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
