Enterprise Information Services (EIS) is a state government-wide information technology (IT) program led by Oregon’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Cyber Security Services (CSS) is an information security management section within EIS. It acts as a shared information security resource for the state of Oregon. CSS’s mission:  Leading Oregon Government to safeguard the State’s information resources.  Join this essential team as a Security Operations Analyst!

In this crucial position you will assist senior-level security operations staff with providing policy, process, guidance, and consulting resource to all state of Oregon government. The Security Operations Analyst also assists with providing broad and objective review and guidance for CSS Cloud Security operations consistent with state and federal security standards and best practice, including security process and workflow analysis, enhancement, and optimization, as well as all aspects of security operations customer service delivery. You will work closely with EIS internal partners (e.g. Data Center Services), enterprise customers, and contracted service providers and vendors.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience in security systems administration, analysis, process development, and customer service. Four of the six years of experience must be in cloud security administration, analysis, and process development; OR

  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in cloud security administration, analysis, process development and customer service; OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in cloud security administration, analysis, process development and customer service; OR

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, with focus on cloud security administration, analysis, process development and customer service may substitute for all of the above.

Desired Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to write information systems security documentation, including alerts, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Demonstrated experience configuring, administering, and maintaining firewalls and related security infrastructure devices (e.g.  Palo Alto, Cisco, F5, pfSense, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience configuring, administering, and maintaining cloud security infrastructure objects (e.g.  Palo Alto NGFW for Azure, NGFW for Amazon Web Services, Azure-native firewalls, Native WAFs, Native Bastions, etc.)

  • Extensive knowledge of cloud information security concepts, best practices, application of NIST standards, and CIS controls.

  • Knowledge of information security concepts, best practices, application of NIST standards, and CIS controls 

  • Demonstrated experience and application of Information Technology Infrastructure Library concepts in an enterprise environment (e.g., change, incident, and release management).

  • IT acumen including a broad knowledge of, and ability to use, a variety of computers, software, scripting languages, application programming interface connectivity, networking, and security information systems.

  • The ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers and other agencies and the public.

  • Deep customer service and facilitation skills at a variety of technical and business levels in a governmental setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Project Management processes.
