Support account and access activities within VDOT in coordination with agency stakeholders and ensure VDOT and COV standards are being met. Provide guidance to partners throughout VDOT to ensure access management activities are being performed within standards, and that other requirements such as background check requirements are being met. Assist end users as necessary with security related issues.

How you will contribute:
  • Department Documentation : Support development of departmental documentation, job aids, training materials and related security information.
  • IT Policy Compliance : Support compliance with VDOT and VITA policies, standards and guidelines governing IT computer systems. Coordinate and communicate with VITA (COV IT Agency) on areas of common interest and concern.
  • IT Support Program : Provide program support to assigned IT program area.
  • New Technologies : Support evaluation of information security technologies. Support direct testing of information security measures implemented in VDOT applications. Participate in the development, testing and implementation of the VDOT COOP Plan.
  • Project Lead : Support projects on cybersecurity related projects undertaken.
  • Security Administration : Administer the VDOT Information Security Awareness and Training program. Provide day-to-day operational oversight and support for training program. Develop job aids as needed to address security related questions. Incorporate acceptable use policy in training programs and establish mechanisms to identify and report violations.
  • Security Training : Support all baseline and role-based security awareness training activities and ensure they are being completed in accordance with VDOT and COV standards. Support security training program for VDOT employees and other users statewide. Respond to User Network System Access Requests in the SARA on-line applications and to SARA System Alerts related to the training tool. Resolve system issues and errors. Maintain information security awareness web page. Coordinate information security awareness strategies with other VDOT stakeholders.
  • Training: Support on-line training system and other manual and automated training tools. Support program to ensure material is relevant and effective and recommend improvements.

  • Knowledge of security trends, security management practices, security models and architecture, and security policies.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software and hardware applications.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing on technical subjects.
  • Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate on-line training programs in multiple formats.
  • Knowledge of applications systems development, security models, architecture, access models, telecommunications and networking.
  • Knowledge of information security programs and guidance for a complex organization with multiple operating units, locations and missions
  • Knowledge of security trends, security management practices, security models, architecture and security policies.
  • Skill in the use of computers, software and hardware applications.

  • Additional Considerations:
  • A combination of training, experience or education in Business Administration, Public Administration Information Technology or related field desired.
  • Cybersecurity related certifications such as CISSP.
  • Experience with information security programs and guidance for a complex organization with multiple operating units, locations and missions.
