Salary: £38,992 to £47,000 (dependent on experience)

The Role
As the Infrastructure Operations Network Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting both on-premise and cloud-hosted network services. You will be instrumental in the implementation of the network refresh project, ensuring the CAA’s network infrastructure is modern, efficient and robust.
Your responsibilities will include managing the firewall, monitoring network performance and capacity. Embedding security and compliance measures throughout the CAA network, from implementation to the ongoing maintenance. The Infrastructure Operations Network Analyst will ensure that the CAA network operations remain secure, efficient and aligned with industry standards and regulations.
This role demands a proactive approach to network management and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of performance and security.
Core Accountabilities
Network Performance & Capacity
- Monitor network performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Maintain real-time monitoring tools and reporting systems
- Analyse traffic patterns for capacity planning
- Provide Wi-Fi connectivity support
Firewall Management
- Configure and maintain firewalls for network security
- Implement security policies to protect CAA infrastructure
- Apply regular updates and patches
- Respond to network incidents within agreed SLAs
- Collaborate on P1 incidents with cross-functional teams
- Provide on-call support as part of duty rota
Security & Compliance
- Implement security controls and monitor vulnerabilities
- Deploy security patches and certificates with minimal disruption
- Support security renewal activities with Information Security team
Continuous Improvement
- Propose network performance and security enhancements
- Collaborate with architecture and platform delivery teams
- Communicate network status and updates to stakeholders
Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive network and Wi-Fi configuration documentation
- Document changes and procedures
About You
Minimum essential requirements for the role:
- Proven experience in network engineering, with focus on firewall management and/or switch upgrades.
- Relevant knowledge and experience of supporting and managing key enterprise technologies deployed within the CAA network specifically: Switching(Cisco & HP switches), Load Balancers(Citrix NetScaler), Firewalls(Palo Alto Firewalls, Azure Firewall, FireMon Management, VMware NSX DFW and Cisco ASA), WAFs (Azure Application Gateway, Azure WAF), Networking(LAN, WAN, DHCP, DNS) Wireless(Cisco Meraki Wireless, Aruba Wifi Controller) and Security(Cisco Secure Access, Panorama and NSX Manager)
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols and technologies.
- Proficiency in firewall configuration and management.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services.
- Methodical and organised.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Be self-motivated and the ability to motivate and influence others.
Desirable skills for the role:
- Experience with Circuit Switching, IP / VoIP networking / technical proficiency in
- LAN/WAN architectures would be an advantage.
- Relevant certifications CCNA, CISSP, Azure Administrator Associate or CompTIA Network+.
Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
SC - To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.

Relocation & Property
The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.
We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.
We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
