SUMMARY:

The IT Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and securing the hospital’s IT infrastructure. This hands-on role includes network administration, scripting and automation, endpoint protection, access control, and the daily operation of critical security technologies. Reporting to the CIO, this position serves as the senior IT security expert, responsible for developing and executing strategies to protect the organization’s digital environment, ensure compliance, and maintain business continuity.

1. Infrastructure and Security Strategy

CRITERIA:

• Collaborates with the CIO to develop strategic and tactical IT plans, including budgeting, resource allocation, and technology adoption.
• Consults on technology evaluations and implementations, ensuring alignment with IT strategy.
• Assesses infrastructure needs and presents justifications for hardware or software changes.
• Identifies and integrates products to ensure performance, reliability, and user satisfaction.

2. Network & Systems Administration

CRITERIA:

• Configures, monitors, and maintains servers, network devices, and system hardware.
• Installs and updates system software and applies security patches.
• Monitors system alerts and addresses performance issues proactively.
• Maintains documentation of configurations and standard procedures.

3. Security Operations & Automation

CRITERIA:

• Implements and supports tools like Fortified, Cybereason, and ManageEngine RMM.
• Conducts vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and remediates risks.
• Manages access control using PortalGuard.
• Develops and maintains PowerShell scripts to automate IT tasks.

 4. Support, Compliance, & User Engagement

CRITERIA:

• Provides technical support for network, software, and hardware issues.
• Responds to complex service requests and assists with escalated issues.
• Educates users on safe cybersecurity practices and system usage.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare security standards.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network/system administration or cybersecurity.

• Proficient in Fortified, Cybereason, ManageEngine RMM, and PowerShell scripting.
• Knowledgeable in network protocols, firewalls, and Microsoft 365/Azure environments.

• CEH, CCNA, or other relevant certifications preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.

• Able to work independently and collaboratively.

• Experience in a healthcare or HIPAA-regulated environment is strongly preferred.

• Must be available for on-call duties or after-hours support as needed.

 • May require travel between campus sites.
