What’s the job?
We’re looking for a dynamic and hands-on Head of Information Security to lead the development and delivery of our information security strategy. In this role, you’ll work across the organisation to embed security practices that protect our systems, data, and digital assets. You’ll lead a high-performing team and play a key role in guiding how we securely adopt new technologies, including AI and cloud platforms. This role also champions a culture of security awareness, helping staff and students stay safe online. You may also provide updates and insights to our Executive Leadership Team and Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring our security approach aligns with broader governance priorities.
Accountabilities:
The Head of Information Security is accountable for leading a proactive and strategic approach to cyber risk, governance, and security operations. This includes embedding security into systems and culture, managing threats, guiding secure innovation, and driving high performance within the security function.
Develop and execute the organisation’s information security strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, compliance standards, and risk frameworks.
Oversee cybersecurity operations including 24/7 threat monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery planning to ensure resilience.
Lead the integration of security controls into emerging technologies, cloud infrastructure, and AI systems to support secure innovation.
Drive a culture of security awareness and collaboration across the organisation through training, engagement, and cross-functional partnerships.
Who you are:
You’re a strategic and hands-on information security leader with a deep understanding of risk, governance, and emerging technologies. With a proven track record in building and executing enterprise-wide security strategies, you thrive in complex environments where collaboration, innovation, and resilience are key. You’re equally comfortable briefing executive leaders as you are guiding technical teams through evolving cyber threats. You bring a proactive, data-informed mindset, and you’re passionate about embedding security into the fabric of organisational culture.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior information security roles with demonstrated leadership
Proven success in developing and executing enterprise security strategies across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments
In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001), privacy regulations, and compliance standards
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey technical risks in business terms
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA (cloud or AI governance certifications a bonus)
Experience leading incident response, risk management, and vulnerability programs
Familiarity with AI/ML security risks and governance is highly desirable
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
