OT Cyber Security Technician

DEPARTMENT: PROCESSING - GENERAL

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Cyber security technicians are responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures, monitor for potential vulnerabilities or breaches and responding to incidents in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/Matric NQF4 is essential.
• Diploma NQF 6 Related to Cyber Security or Light Current Engineering or equivalent is essential.
• CompTIA N+, Comp TIA S+, or equivalent Network Security certifications is essential.
• MCSE is essential.
• Understanding of OT/IT Cyber security methodologies is essential.
• Understanding of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model and renowned ports and services advantageous.
• CCNA with experience on Aruba Switches is essential.
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in networking or server role is essential.
• Excellent understanding of switching and routing and their related technologies.
• Aruba ClearPass experience will be advantageous.
• Valid Medical Certificate is essential or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

• Sound knowledge Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) architecture.
• Knowledge of Network and communication protocols common in ICS environments.
• Sound understanding of ICS OT design considerations with emphasis on human safety and the availability/security of operating environment.
• Understanding and knowledge of leading OT security practises and preparing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards governing the security operations for ICS systems and networks.
• An understanding of good governance, ethics and project managing skills.
• Knowledge of OT network protocols (e.g., RS-323, Mobus, OPC, DNP3)
• Understanding of the Purdue model.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Understanding of Threats, vulnerabilities and exploits in OT environments and appropriate mitigation techniques.
• Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
• Experience with operational technology (OT)/industrial control system (ICS) protocols and computing environments, to include common security methodologies in this area.
• The individual must process a strong understanding of computer networks and systems, as well as in-depth knowledge of cyber security principals and bets practices.
• Person must be able to think critically and act quickly to minimise the impact of a breach and prevent further damage to the organisation.
• Person should be skills in identifying and analysing potential threats and vulnerabilities.
