MSTS Physical Security Systems (PSS) team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in security systems and excellent technical skills to lead a team of Electronic Security Systems professionals. Your responsibilities will encompass the oversight of installation and maintenance of physical security systems and collaborate with teams from construction, IT infrastructure, and systems applications for the life cycle of Physical Security Systems. In this role you will report to the PSS Manger and be part of the PSS leadership team. Adhere to security policies, providing comprehensive plans to integrate new systems, and recommend improvements. Additionally, you will maintain thorough documentation, lead projects, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and manage risks. Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet business needs and keep stakeholders informed will be essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line supervision of the Electronic Security Systems (ESS), PSS Procurement and Work Planner teams. Partner with teams from cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, construction, and applications to develop and integrate a comprehensive, highly available Physical Security System.
- Supervises a team up to approximately 20 technicians and planners to achieve organization goals and objectives, perform personnel administration activities including performance reviews, performance management, and appraisals.
- Be the point of contact in the absence of management.
- Organizes and supervises day to day activities, ensuring schedules are met.
- Integrations with external stakeholders and vendors.
- Perform work of the same type as those being supervised, as well as, providing technical guidance.
- Create an environment where employees feel safe to raise issues, empowered to address issues, and supportive to resolve issues.
- Responsible for working within an assigned budget.
- Contribute to the development, execution, and communication of the vision and strategic plan for the PSS organization.
- Lead personnel in analyzing and solving unique problems through collaboration to achieve mission success.
- Define and document how the implementation of a new security system or new interfaces between systems impacts the current security and IT environments.
- Skilled in managing, testing, and implementing current security architectures for security systems and video management systems.
- Involved in security related reporting and analysis to regulatory agencies and federal oversight.
- Leads the development, coordination, and implementation of facility security and project specific security installations.
- Assist in Security Plan Development.
- Supervises multiple priorities of projects and requests.
- Develop and present security system metrics.
- Serve as the technical lead on very large, complex Physical Security Systems projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors' degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video management systems integration preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective support and documentation.
- Expertise in multiple technology environments and in-depth understanding of Security System Architecture, planning and strategy requirements.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment and work independently when necessary.
- Security: Knowledge of security best practices and relevant regulations.
- Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers.
- Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations.
- Promptly correct or report any hazard or potential hazard to supervision. Participate in and embrace MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suites, including Excel and similar programs.
- Experience managing personnel.
- Experience with security system metrics and analysis.
- Primary work location will be the North Las Vegas Campus, North Las Vegas, Nevada with occasion travel to the site in Mercury, NV.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday. (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $101,254.40 - $162,011.20
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
