JOB TITLE:  Information Technology (IT) Systems Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Information Technology

SUPERVISOR: Director of Information Technology

SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - $100,000

FLSA: Exempt


** ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS:  Your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, $140.00 Employee plus family.  **

  

JOB SUMMARY: The Information Technology (IT) Systems Manager guides the work of the CPN IT System Engineers in their efforts to implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the server and network infrastructure of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Implementation includes the design of networks and server hardware, storage, and systems to ensure that IT needs are met for CPN. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Work with team members within the server and network management team as well as other IT teams to help devise and      establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
  • Analyze the business requirements of departments to determine their technology needs
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management
  • Lead and mentor IT staff and supervise technicians and other professionals
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing alongside      the other IT team members
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures alongside other IT team members and managers for electronic data      processing and computer systems operations and development
  • Hire and manage information systems personnel to design, develop, implement, operate and administer networks and      information systems
  • Ensure technology is accessible and employees are equipped with current hardware and software
  • Assist and oversee alongside other team members troubleshooting hardware, software and network operating system issues
  • Understand current hardware and software trends and help implement best of breed solutions
  • Ensure systems and applications are effective, reliable and meet the service delivery needs of all departments and programs.
  • Develop and maintain the disaster recovery and business continuity plans. 
  • Identify and coordinate installation, upgrades, security patches, and ongoing support of hardware and software systems      across the organization.
  • Provide an effective and responsive helpdesk service and regularly inform clients and IT team members of the status of      service requests.
  • Review, plan, and implement upgrades of existing hardware and software systems, while ensuring minimal disruption to      service delivery.
  • Provide engineering, development, documentation, testing, implementation, tuning, and ongoing maintenance for new system,      services, and network deployments to ensure operational reliability.
  • Provide training for technical and non-technical  team members in the use of new hardware and software that is developed      and/or acquired.
  • Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host server operating systems, disk  arrays, fiber channel switches, and other components.
  • Develop procedures to maintain IT security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature, and fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Develop procedures to maintain security for HIPAA and PCI hardware and software.
  • Coordinate and execute approved adjustments and changes that increase IT systems performance and availability.
  • Ensures 99% uptime of mission critical IT systems and resources.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date system documentation and asset inventories.
  • Research and make recommendations for the procurement and installation of necessary hardware and software.
  • Research and make recommendations for vendor support contracts for hardware or software based on service level      expectations.
  • When necessary, work in concert with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution.
  • Ensure integrity and availability of data through continuous assessment and testing of data backup operations.
  • Provide advance notification of all planned IT systems outages with documented changes and set realistic expectations on      availability.
  • Coordinate and communicate closely with management and helpdesk during all unplanned outages.
  • Work with IT team members to resolve issues or assist with projects as assigned.
  • Develop and coordinate project plans to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the organization. 
  • Invest time in staying current with technological developments and recommend ways for the organization to take advantage of      technology advancements.
  • Consistently enact courteous customer service skills.  Focus on customer’s goals and objectives in order to help achieve positive outcomes.

· Respond to emergency calls for IT systems when required, including nights and weekends;


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform other duties and projects as required by Administration and Management


PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

· Ability to obtain and maintain a CPN Gaming License.

· Meet all requirements for operating a motor vehicle while working for CPN including clean driving record and current motorist insurance.

· Ability to lead and manage personnel

· Three to five years of experience working as a Systems Engineer.

· CompTIA Server+ and Security+ certifications required.

· Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, and VMWare Certifications preferred.

· CISSP preferred.

· Strong knowledge of technical writing and development of hardware and software documentation.

· Demonstrated experience with Windows, Unix/Linux systems.

· Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, Single Sign On, AD Federation, DNS, and DHCP.

· Experience working with VMware ESX / vSphere.

· Experience working with SAN Storage Configuration and Administration. (HP 3Par, EMC)

· Experience using PowerShell Scripting.

· Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Exchange.

· Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure including but not limited to switches, firewalls, and routers.

· Experience securing networks and systems including ensuring compliance for applicable HIPAA and PCI IT software systems and hardware infrastructure.

· Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology.

· Ability to facilitate problem solving among groups of stakeholders with varying needs and priorities, and to communicate well with end users, IT team members, and management.

· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills across organizational boundaries

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

· Must be able to sit or stand for moderate to long periods of time

· Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs.
